A sweet little genny. Have used mine for a day and a half during an outage. Runs like the proverbial swiss watch. Fridge/freezer, lights, telly, fans etc no problems. One little trick with the fuel shutoff valve is, you can turn it right back to just before it kills the spark, with the unit running, and it will drain the fuel in the carby bowl, then stop. Handy if you are putting it away for a few months, it drains fuel from the bowl so you lessen the risk of gumming up your carby.

Great review, I bought the Pulsar 4000 peak 3200 running and it looks exactly the same as this generator everything from the construction to the engine and parts sent, just different name and color and with the extra USB connections it doesn’t have. I got it 4th of July for 500 can’t wait to use it for camping

Great review. It was interesting that the db was still low considering you took the reading from where both heater fans at running at full speed. A db reading at both ends (where your test heaters are) and 7 metres at the opposite end to get mainly the generator noise level would be interesting. Does it have a fan on demand cooling fan or just relies on ambient temperature and wind/breeze? Thanks for taking the time to review this generator 😊

Great video. Looking at upgrading a bit from a 2000/1500 champion inverter generator, and this one may fit the bill. The best feature I think of that screw in oil filling funnel is that it would drain the same way. I have a small champion inverter generator and while it does have a little lip. I always make a mess when draining it.
@SlipFitGarage

Yes, absolutely. You can screw that funnel into the fill port and then tip your generator on it's side to drain the oil.

Hi, We have an Imagine XLS 22MLE travel trailer. FYI we live in E. Tn. Our travel trailer has a Furion 15K BTU AC unit. We make somewhat frequent trips to S. Fl. Since the camper is obviously more comfortable when at rest stops than sleeping in the front seats of our tow vehicle, a Silverado, we are looking into one of two portable inverter generators. Both come "RV Ready" with the 30-TT RV direct 30Amp plug in socket. Both are "Dual Fuel" (Gas/LP). The first is the Westinghouse iGen 2550 DFC. The second is the Champion 4000 Dual fuel. Our Travel trailer has a LP connector under the camper (for a gas grill that we intend to use for a direct LP source). I know on LP all Generators put out less power on LP than Gasoline. I am leaning towards the Champion as the strain on the generator should be less when the compressor kicks in. Both are similar in dimensions, size and weight to the MaxPeedingRods MXR in this video. I am staying away from both the Honda and the Yamaha models as they are twice to three times the price. Since you asked if there are units people would like evaluated, Please Evaluate the Champion. I would also be interested in purchasing it from you after the evaluation, if the evaluation was positive. Thank you.

Thanks for the review. I bought the 240 volt with a single 15 amp socket that caters for the Australian market. Mainly as a house back up during black outs. As these units are relatively new to the market, I wonder how they would hold up with age and usage.

The generator in this video has been used on a (almost) weekly basis by a friend of mine. He uses it at the race track on the weekends to power his RV motorhome. (instead of the built-in generator) He's been using it since this video was made and he's had zero trouble with it. So, almost weekly use for over a year at this point. Not bad in my opinion.

Nicely done Brian. Just wondering if you/anyone knows. Seems this unit is somewhat design based on the Honda 2000 except this one has a slightly larger motor and similar dimensions. Also, if you are aware of this... are the feet at the base in the same place? Asking as I had a custom built plate 'base plate' built wherein the four individual feet from my (now dead) Honda 2000 use to 'sit' in. Sure would be good if it fit straight onto the old 'Honda Plate'. Thanks in advance. 😉✅ 🙏🏻

Hello. First, thanks for the kind words. As for the feet.... I honestly can not answer your question. I do not have a Honda to compare with, and even if I did, I also do not have the MaxPweedingRods generator here at my location right now. It's currently in a friends RV about 30 minutes away from me. If I had to guess, I would say NO, the feet are probably not in the exact same spot. This is not intended to be a direct exact clone of the Honda. Sure, it's very similar in design but nothing is EXACTLY the same between the two, as far as I know. I wish I had a better answer for you but I do not. Sorry. Thanks again.

Great video, very thorough.... this is a sweet setup, plenty of power for true portability without the bulk of the big square ones of the same power...these little engines are easy to pull start so its not a problem without electric start... the predator is 2k max & only 1600 running... so this actually has a nice power advantage in the same size genny... plus its Inverter so its clean power..it also maintained a pure sine wave under max load & maintained voltage, many of the other brands tend to lose voltage under load... . i like it.... Never heard of this brand, but from the looks... i think i know who makes it.. & they make a Very good product... maybe they'll have some big ones coming later....

Not sure about run time. I loaned this generator to a friend to use with his camper and I haven;t heard how long it will run on one tank. Genmax just came out with a really neat kit for using external boat gas tanks with generators like this. It has a built in fuel pump with a float switch and it will keep your generator tank full. It replaces the stock gas cap. It's a pretty cool design. I will link it here for you. If you need extended run time, this new pump is the way to go. Would it work for a full size refrigerator/ freezer in case of a power outage?
@SlipFitGarage
@SlipFitGarage 10 күн бұрын
This generator is rated for 3000 continuous watts. The standard electrical outlet in a residential home in the USA is typically on a 15 amp breaker in your electric panel, and is therefore capable out putting out 1800 watts. SOME electrical outlets in a residential setting are on 20 amp breakers (garages, mechanical rooms, etc) and those are capable of putting out 2400 watts. So, as you can see, this generator puts out more wattage than is typically available in any standard electrical outlet. Now back to your question... the obvious answer should be: YES, this generator can run your full size freezer. However, anything with an electric motor CAN draw an enormous amount of startup current for a fraction of a second. Standard home electrical outlets can easily handle this extra load..... but it can be very difficult for a generator. My official answer: This generator SHOULD handle your freezer with no problem... but the only way to know for absolute certain is to simply try it. Thanks for the question.

Hey brother I've had this generator for 1 year. Lost track of hours. Close to 500? Now using daily. The oil low kept shutting off. I thought was o2 sensor. Because was under trailer. Well I was concerned ruined it. But 39 later running good. The oil I fill till touches last 2 thread's on oil fill hole. When it's level.. I did break in correctly. Ran emptied oil. Refilled. Now I check oil every 30 hours and do depend on dip stick reading. Just the the threads. Because I checked with stick said ok. But wasn't.. why light came on. It seemed it did protect motor however. I use to run RV trailer little underpowered. But I use to charge batterys. But if was main power.. not enough power. Great generator through! Light and compact. That's all I got lol God bless I have pushed unit to over load. But was max for hour's. Using like 4500 lol

Sir, This is a very informative video! Thanks. Rosie and I just purchased this generator. Our 2200 Briggs would not quite run our air on our new Brinkley. It ran the one on our Solitude. I took the easy start off my Solitude and put it on the Brinkley. I think because one was a Coleman and the new one is a Furrion. This generator runs it great. Actually, lighter than the Briggs and about the same size. I even think the Max is quieter also. We are set up for solar but always like some backup power. Nice review! I just bought a non-inverter generator. A Generac GP-3600 for my fridge and sump pump. Anyone know if I really need 10 gauge cord especially for 75 ft run? Would my current 12 gauge cord be ok?
@SlipFitGarage
@SlipFitGarage 6 ай бұрын
Personally, I would always opt for the larger size extension cord. I never like to run anything at it's maximum rating for very long. Voltage drop is real.... and when voltage goes down, amp draw goes up.... and higher amperage can put extension cords over their rating. The choice is yours, but in my personal opinion, I'd get the 10 gauge cord. (in fact, I already own at least 400 feet of 10 gauge extension cord) Thanks for the question.

@SlipFitGarage
@SlipFitGarage 10 ай бұрын
It's been a while since I watched my own video so I'm not sure what I said that led you to believe you can't run this outside in cold weather. But either way, yes you should be able to run this generator outside in a wide temperature range. Just keep in mind, it's a carbureted engine, not electronic fuel injected..... Meaning, the air/fuel ratio is set at a fixed ratio, it does not adjust based on altitude or changes in air density caused by extreme temperature (and weather) changes. In really cold conditions, it's possible that the engine could be running lean because cold air is very dense and the carburetor can not adjust for that change like electronic fuel injection can. You may need to run the engine with a little bit of "choke" applied to help take away some of that extra air so the engine doesn't run too lean and burn the engine internals. Just keep en eye and ear on things and you should be fine. This generator is designed to operate in all sorts of weather conditions. If it makes yourself feel a bit better, look through the owners manual and see if they specify a temperature operating range. If they do, and you stay inside that range, you should be fine. Thanks for the question.

He has probably used it 20 or 30 weekends since this video was made, and that is usually from Friday night until Sunday Afternoon. Sometime he even stays at the track all week. (between races weekends) It gets a workout running his A/C, microwave, and pizza oven along with power tools that are in the race car trailer such as the air compressor and battery charger. So far, so good. I haven't head of any problems with it.

Hi would this run a gasless mig welder 110amp for thin sheet metal car repairs. Thanks
@SlipFitGarage
@SlipFitGarage 9 ай бұрын
I can't say for sure. Welders seems to run poorly on generator power even when the generator is mathematically sized correctly. I am assuming you're talking about a 120 volt welder designed to run on a standard outlet, correct? Well, best case scenario you can get 2400 watts from a standard outlet at 120 volts..... This generator is capable of putting out 3500 watts at 120 volts (using the large RV receptacle) so it should "technically" work just fine...... but don't be surprised if the welder spatters more than usual. I've never ran a 120 volt welder on a 3500 watt generator so I can't personally say for sure how well it will work, but I've watched other guys try it and they never seem very satisfied with the welder's performance on generator power. Thanks.

Hey do you know if there’s a companion generator for parallel? I don’t see how you could safely output 6000w through a 30amp outlet (should be 50amp).
@SlipFitGarage
@SlipFitGarage Жыл бұрын
I see your point..... but I do not believe there is a companion generator. You would simply us another identical generator for paralleling purposes. I have not seen the specific parallel kit for this particular generator but usually in situations like this, the parallel kit itself has a larger receptacle built into it, instead of a larger receptacle on the face of either generator. Just for an example, see this parallel kit from Harbor Freight for their 3500 watt generators. Link: www.harborfreight.com/rv-ready-50-amp-inverter-generator-parallel-kit-58374.html This parallel kit includes a 50 amp 240 volt outlet but it specifically says NOT FOR 240 VOLT USE right on the face of the parallel kit. (because neither of these generators put out 240 volts, even together they both still only make 120 volts) It's weird to me that it would included that stye of receptacle. I really can't think of anything in the United States (or North America) that runs on 120 volts but uses a 240 volt receptacle. I'm really not sure how anyone would safely and legally use a 240 volt receptacle to run ANYTHING on 120 volts. What could possibly plug into a 240 volt receptacle that ONLY runs on 120 volts??? I can't think of a single item that is mass produced to run on 120 volts that comes from the factory with a 240 volt plug. In my mind, about the only way this would work would be if someone created their own adapter with electrical parts from the hardware store. You COULD plug a 240 volt 50 amp RV into that style of receptacle but you're not going to get 240 volts into the RV...... And any device inside the RV that is designed to run on 240 volts is not going to work. Also, there must be a jumper wire built into that receptacle on the parallel kit in order to energize both sides of the electric panel inside the RV or half of the RV would have no power. There are some gray areas in this particular situation.

Will it run a trailer air conditioner?
@SlipFitGarage
@SlipFitGarage 5 ай бұрын
It depends how many watts your air conditioner draws while running, and most importantly, while starting. If your A/C unit draws more than 3000 continuous watts while running, then this generator is probably not for you. However, I can say, most RV style A/C units SHOULD run on a 3000 watt generator. If you have starting problems, you can look into "easy start" devices (not the same as "hard start" devices) that help generators start A/C units.

Should I run this with ethanol free gas?
@SlipFitGarage
@SlipFitGarage 8 ай бұрын
Ethanol free gas is ALWAYS better than gas than gas containing ethanol. If you have access to ethanol free gas, then yes, I suggest you run it. I have been running ethanol free gas on all my small gas engine equipment since about 2011 and I have had ZERO carburetor and/or fuel related engine problems. In fact, come to think of it, I haven't had ANY engine problems with ANY of my equipment since switching over to 100% ethanol free gas. My small equipment consists of.... 3 snow blowers, 1 commercial riding lawn mower, 1 walk behind lawn mower, 1 backpack blower, 1 weed trimmer, 1 hedge trimmer, 1 chain saw, 1 50cc Yamaha Zuma scooter, and 5 generators, (at this time) including the one in this video. At any given time, any piece of my equipment can sit for 6-9 months between uses and everything starts right up as if I just used it the day before. Equipment that has been running on ethanol gas can (will) suffer from plugged carburetor fuel jets, stuck needles, etc which causes (very) hard starting or no starting at all. Sometimes, if it does start, it will barely run and have no power. Ethanol ruins carburetors.... They CAN be cleaned but that requires knowing how to clean a carb, and possessing the right tools and equipment to do the job properly. If you want trouble free service, and you have access to it, YES, use ethanol. Thanks for the question.

Are you talking about a canoe, a sailboat, a cabin cruiser, a trawler, etc? I don't know of any portable generator that IS "rated" for use on a boat.... Of course I don't know of any portable generators that are NOT rated for use on a boat, either. It's basically up to your own common sense. It contains gasoline inside the built-in fuel tank so tipping it over would probably be a huge fire hazard. But then again, I see people having generators on boats all the time. I read that on level 1, 120 volt charging it will take "about" 55 hours to charge from 0% to 100%. So, that should give you an idea of charging speed (roughly) with a 120 volt generator. @@jjohnston6645 Yeah, if you're looking for a generator to use as your backup power source when Hurricane related power outages can last for several weeks, you probably want something other than suitcase style portable generator with a 1 gallon tank. The generator in this video is designed for camping and/or powering a few random items, intermittently..... not for 24 hour backup 2-3 weeks straight. But even so, the fuel pump solution I linked to in my previous reply would solve that problem for you and allow this generator to run off any size fuel tank you can buy. Thanks for the comment.
