I used that same filter housing with a sandwich plate to run a front air cooler. It certainly makes for more room and servicability.

I think it needs the gasket to space it out But didn’t want to buy the $20 gasket so i glued it one. Lesson learned look twice install once

Hah,thanks for all the info,i learned a crapload today! As soon as you mentioned that billet filter housing i hadda go check that out. They got em for my AFP 12v ,yay! I hate that stupid cartridge!! Whats the spin on filter that ya use, an oem vw one? I dont mess with nothin but oe/oem, years ago i had a vw diesel i bought and it had a lifter tap from a motorcraft filter. Pretty sure most of the vw filters have the same base ,we used to use the diesel filters on gassers. Since my VR is never gonna be a rocketship, im all for reliability mods and always looking for more.

Mann are the oem filters I had these bosch branded ones that came with a car years ago. After they are gone ill get the mann ones w719-30 I tried the big diesel filter but it hit the block, i messaged iabed about it he said maybe in the future he will add more of a base to fit the big ones
