It must be incredibly satisfying to see this meticulously hand crafted precision mechanical art sitting atop a bygone era engine in action. Next level hot rodding few have invested themselves in mastering.

Just artwork Kelly. As much as I enjoy your casting videos, these videos are every bit as good. Going through the project from start of the concept, through to the finished assembly, including the machining, adds great value for me as a viewer. Thanks very much. Regards Greg

Enjoy all your videos. You need to be featured in Hot rod magazine. Covering some of your projects. Absolutely unbelievable work. Nobody does work like this. Let's melt some aluminum. We can make this ha!

The stick out when cutting some of those ports is extreme. Lovely work.

If you're talking about the router position while cutting the plenum plate, I agree. I would have built a machining platform to elevate the cutting surface and reduce that distance but the problem is the router can only be adjusted upward 1 to 1 1/2" before it hits the Z stepper s it hardly seemed worth it. Though the MegaV is a decent hobby machine, it leaves a lot to be desired for this type of work and I have a slew of upgrades n the works which include linear rails in all axis, additional Z travel/envelope, spindle, and in general much more rigidity. Maybe I'll do a video on that too? Best, Kelly

@@kellycoffield533 hey, I was writing about the ports on the main body of the manifold. With being so close to the elevated features it seems like you’d need a long tool to reach the port locations.
@kellycoffield533 Жыл бұрын
@@OhHeyTrevorFlowers Ahh, I see. Also true, but the combination of the radial drive tool holder I discussed in the video, and the MT2 to R8 adapter provided adequate reach. That is a lot of stick out but with the pilot hole already drilled there is hardly any material removal with the form tool, and cutting aluminum isnt much of a chore. Probably a little greater risk for runnout with those adapters but well within tolerances for such an o-ring sealing port and miles better than a pipe thread IMO. Best, Kelly

Amazing work you do, as always. Wondering if the vacuum plenum might fill with fuel over time, there is always liquid fuel running down port walls, with each pressure pulse a tiny bit could be sucked inside there. On another note, I am working on a 4 cylinder two stroke 1000 cc V4 engine, based off YZ250 cylinders and rotating assemblies. Have studied all your videos and will cast the multiple crankcase halves based off your teachings. If you are interested, look up Algie Composite Aircraft on KZbin for my channel. Thanks!

It's a fair thought, but after decades of practice, I can confidently say it just doesn't happen. As to why, I suppose it's because in-flow is balanced by out-flow, and the plenum spends at least as much time well above rather then below the vapor pressure of gasoline, so even if some fuel temporarily comes out of suspension, it promptly evaporates when exposed to high vacuum. Same is true at brake boosters and other vacuum accessories supplied by manifold vacuum. I've done a lot of work with two-stroke engines over my life. I'll have to check out your channel and engine project. Ever watch Alan Millards motorcycle engine builds? Best, Kelly
