Ah! That was brilliant. Thanks for showing us how you did that. I like the idea of that grinder for this kind of thing, but have no idea where I'd keep it / use it... I need a workbench, maybe... :-)
@BrummieLockPicker3 жыл бұрын
Cheers for watching again, this bench grinder is small and light so can be stored anywhere. You could put it anywhere really, no need for a workbench, stick it on your dining table lol 🤣🤣🤣

@@BrummieLockPicker would any cheap grinder do for this purpose or is it better to spend more on a better one?
@BrummieLockPicker3 жыл бұрын
I brought a really cheap basic one with the intention to upgrade but after 2 years I am still using it. Depends on how much you going to use it and what for, if it’s just for making picks a cheap one would be fine

Very nice-I just found a pile of my old hacksaw blades while clearing my workbench. I'll definitely give this a try, especially since I finally have a bench grinder. I know Frankie got retired-was he getting bent out of shape? If so, I'm curious how much life you got out of him-in number of hours or locks picked! "Might need a bit more tweaking"....I don't know about you, but that's my difficulty with making my own-if I trimmed it more, bent it more, etc.....so I tweak instead of just building a full arsenal!
@BrummieLockPicker3 жыл бұрын
Cheers for watching Jeff Frankie is still in good shape, I used it every day for a couple of hours over about 4 weeks and it was fine. I lost count of how many locks I picked, have fun making one 👍

If the blade is so brittle that it snaps that easily is it really a good metal to make a pick out of?
@BrummieLockPicker3 жыл бұрын
Cheers for watching It’s only the 2nd one I’ve made but the first one is still going strong after using it every day for the last 4 weeks Only time will tell how strong it is but at the moment no problems 👍

Hey new locky here got my first 4 pin open yesterday with paper clips but i had the same thought i know it takes a bit of brute to brake the blades but with it being ground down is it worth the risk breaking the tip off in a lock i feel mixed about it. I have heard of it being done and ill finish the video but i break stuff so easy and knowing how brittle it can be i dont know if its worth the risk what is your thoughts. I do have a set of picks on the way im just impatient hahaha
@lockhak338 ай бұрын
@@weriesblack1375 Since you already have some picks coming in I wouldn't recommend making your own. Making a usable pick is most likely going to take hours or longer depending on the tools you have to make it. If you really want to make something I'd recommend trash picking wiper blades and making turning tools out of the ones that have stainless steel inserts in them. PS only pick locks you own that are not in use for quite a few reasons but one of them is that even picks you buy can get jammed and break inside of a lock.
