I watched this video because it mention Manilla. My company ( AMS ) has a test site there which I visit quite often. I literally laughed out loud when you mentioned Calamba. This is exactly where our test site is located! This is a highly industrial area with many of the big names in electronics represented there. This made the video even more interesting to me. Thanks!

Looking to setup a PtP link between two points, 99% over water at around 19-20 miles. This was ridiculously informative. We are most likely going to go with the 5XHD with the 34 dBi dish. Thanks!!

I recently ordered an airmax gigabeam 60ghz with backup 5ghz antennas. Im going to go about 500 feet from the house to a shop. I want as close to a gigabit as possible. I recently got fiber internet and im jumping from 100Mbps down/up to gigiabit because they lowered the price on that tier. And id like to get as close to that as I can also in the shop. I thought about trying to run a fiber cable, but decided against it. I really wanted to play with some ptp antennas. My idea of a fun project.

id rather go with the higher frequency.high frequency spectrum in the Philippines is today not yet regulated much.Even the 5ghz spectrum is not regulated enough, the reason why WISPs are now common in the Philippines.the most regulated spectrum as of now is the LTE and radio frequency.

Maybe I’m missing something... but where’s the analysis of things like antenna patterns (for both transmit and receive antennas), pointing error and sensitivity, total transmit power, power reduction due to inverse square law signal spreading, estimated rain fades, estimated interference from other signals and noise, gain at receive antenna, G/T of receiver LNA, effective C/No and Eb/No, modulation and coding types, .... in other words, an actual link budget?

If you choose the LTU with the highest gain antenna you will have less interference because of the much smaller beam with and higher s/n ratio. This should give you the best chance of utilizing the 100mhz bandwidth.

How would it be if there is a mountain in the middle and I need to go around it without having to put an antenna on the top because it is not viable? Do we have to put two antennas at each point (station), one connects with the previous point and the other with the next point? connected together with a switch in each station to connect both antennas in each station? I hope I have made myself understood. Thank you!

@helemvinsmoke1360
@helemvinsmoke1360 4 жыл бұрын
if im not mistaken, dbi represents power of the device, range or gain.
@lostconflict9369
@lostconflict9369 4 жыл бұрын
@@helemvinsmoke1360 You could say it's power tbh. Typically you'll want to use higher dbi values unless your devices are too close for that value. You can imagine it as how loud your devices are speaking to each other, and if your dbi value is too high and the devices are relatively close. It's kinda pointless because they're essentially shouting down each others ears. But a higher dbi value will typically result in a better signal, resulting in better throughput. That's why i was disappointed to not see him play around with the dbi values @ 24ghz. But at that range 24ghz isn't working for anyone lmao. Connection would be so weak, sneezing would affect it.

Microwaves DO travel in straight lines, just like any other form of electromagnetic radiation. However such waves exhibit diffraction, in which they appear to bend somewhat around objects in their paths. You can say that in a situation like this that the earth’s curvature is minimal. But you can’t simply say that microwaves don’t travel in straight lines and shrug your shoulders and be done with it.
