The building under the Verrazano Bridge is Battery Weed, an artillery emplacement built prior to the Civil War and is located on Ft Wadsworth. Enjoying your videos.

That must have been a very hard decision to give up the view before actually seeing it… but… seasick is no joke. Been there, done that. Have you guys ever gotten land sick? It’s when you’ve been on the boat for long enough to equalize, and then solid land feels off. That’s a strange experience you don’t see coming. Lol

Yes, I had an issue that was bad but lessened until gone over a 6-month period of time. That happened years ago when we started boating and were on the boat for almost 2-weeks straight due to storms in the Gulf. I had something called, mal-disembarkment. It was awful vertigo! For a while, I feared we might have to give up boating! Thankfully, it went away and I've not had any more trouble with it. Then there is also the feeling of still being underway when on land. I believe that is common for people who spend a lot of time on the water.

@@vw7616 yes! You must have really had an issue. The longest I ever had land sickness was a few hours. So glad your situation was overcome.

How old is this? We are headed for NYC this week, maybe go through on the 4th

We were there in mid-June 2024. It was wonderful to anchor near the statue and NYC looked pretty spectacular from the water. The first anchorage right behind the statue was too rocky during the day so we moved to the more protected one, but then we missed the full view of the city at night. We suspect that the water calmed down a lot when night fell and there was less boat traffic. We hope you have fun in NYC.
