Your family is so beautiful! 2 humans 2 parrots! Thank you for always telling us all to adopt parrots and not buy them from a breeder. I cannot believe how many parrots need a good home- it is devastating, especially for those parrots. People need to commit if they are going to get a parrot because it’s forever. Thank you so much for your content!!

I just love the birthday videos! Well done finding a bird friendly (bird owning) pub! Thank you also for sharing the sad truth, the very real problem birds are facing with an emphasis on macaws. Have I ever thought "what have I gotten myself into?" yes. I have been owned by birds all my life but just graduated to a macaw 2 years ago. I didn't go into it lightly and I am committed to keeping her the rest of my life and have another person who will be caring for her after that. It breaks my heart how many are rehomed, abandoned, in rescues all over the world. I wish more people would give real thought before they take one in & to how to work through issues after they have made a commitment to a bird.

If more ppl even cared where they get said bird it might slow some of the back yard breeder's down, i spent 2 years deciding on which breeder for our 1st, the 2nd is a rescue and any others will be rescues, or rescue single as I know my limits and space we have room for 1 more rescue..
@stimela10002 жыл бұрын
So true. Someone I see at the school gates got a blue and gold macaw, rehomed from someone else. It was great until the novelty of having a talking pet wore off. Within a couple of months she'd rehomed him to yet another person. Poor bird.
@bigbiemacaw2 жыл бұрын
@@stimela1000 I honestly don't know how ppl who don't free fly can live with macaw, when they get board they become heavy traffic & super destructive, they're not something that should have a value, mine don't there our child we raised and I look at the rescue as a Foster child, he's not yet free flight trained b4 coming to us he had never had a toy, since bring with us he gets a toy a day and he destroys that toy, it keeps him busy and active and he goes out as part of his training every day...most ppl have no clue how much time n effort is needed to not just keep em but to keep them happy and healthy if you work away from home day it's not fair, our b&g was left every day , without water or a toy 8n 9ne of those tiny corner cages, when his owner seen videos of bigbie out flying they made the hard decision to let him go..thing is not many ppl who rehome an older bird will know how to ff train so sadly for most of these birds a good life ship sailed with the lottery of who's my first owner. .that in its self is heartbreaking 💔

I found my rescue he's 4 were his 3rd home, he was left alone every day for 10 hours a day, I'm noticing he's learned to do things to self sooth when alone, he already had a big adventure already when his harness Snapped Sunday and I spent 3 days under a tree talking him down, cos he has 0 decent skills, it wasn't how I was planning to asses his flying skills, which are very poor as he was clipped for the first year of his life, so sad I'm smitten he has his forever home now, and is am apprentice flyer now..its so sad these birds fall for ppl then are just turned out for no fault of there own..there not just a pretty pet, they need time time and more time, love work and will destroy ur stuff, u can't love ur stuff if you live macaw, replaced my charger wire this morning by afternoon I had to get a 2nd and 3rd..he'll hunt them..we can never leave them home alone, so like this week my husband will stay home from a funeral or we will have a sitter in..

Thank you for bringing your birds to the world. As much as I want a pet, birds need to fly freely and I know I can't provide a safe flying environment. We have wedge tail eagles and peregrine falcons that like to eat their catches (usually turtle doves and indian miners) in our yard as it is safe from cats and dogs - not ideal for a pet with no / little predator watch skills. Nature is beautiful but cruel.

@@marione.magdalenak.1988 I have other birds that visit my garden including lorikeets (for the apples), rosellas (a pair stays all year), other parrots, nectar eating birds, magpies, crows, kingfishers, kookaburras and tawny frog mouth (owl - probably eats rats and mice). It just wouldn't be fair to keep a bird in any sort of cage seeing the freedom of others. Eagles and falcons tend to go for the doves, pigeons and miners - must be tastier / slower and easier to catch. I'll leave conservation to the experts.

Hi, Fari from Scotland. Very very important! Plz read and tell everyone in your community. Avoid any contact of any sorts with "egg cardboard/containers" with your parrots. The egg carboards using in the egg farms could contains dangerous bacteria, parasite and fungus. Also thanks for the lovely videos.

Someone looked a little tipsy at the final sign-off!
My cockatiel is so afraid and scared of things, he's even scared of his own feathers when preening (he fluffs up to remove the smaller fluff and then gets spooked by it) idk if he would ever be able to free fly like this and not fly away. It all looks so fun. Also, how do you get the larger birds to not attack the smaller ones? I've heard quite a few stories of someones larger bird killing their smaller bird
@MikeyTheMacaw2 жыл бұрын
The birds usually don’t try attack each other, we are always in large areas too so if a macaw went for a cockatiel, they would just fly away, they are way faster.
