What is the story of the the tradition of the stick visual being raised to the nose area? Also, I am interested in what rudiments are played by this group. Are they the traditional American rudiments of something totally different. It seems that the style of drumming here would prevent the playing of some of the American rudiments. Not sure.

They can and do play many different types of music. Just because they lift the sticks to their upper lip does not mean they will play differently. It's the signature of the British Royal Marines. They hold the Worlds Record for the longest non-stop drumming.

@@brownbear2419 Would love to see the printed music of their traditional beats. This is a very interesting & unique style of drumming for someone who grew up with the American tradition of rudimental drumming. Perhaps they have some posted somewhere.

it goes back to like 1800s era where drummers will lift their sticks up to signal "attention" or to show they're ready to play whatever field call they need to do by drums. idk that's my guess and then overtime it developed as drill for corps of drums etc
