In my younger years I played in various bands, including military ones, often also tattoos. When HM Royal Marines participated, they still stole the show through their discipline and that is still the case.

Drummers aren't part of the band they're the corps of drums separate from the band. Bandsmen are non combat ie medics Drummers are combat soldiers

@@Onthecouch-r5r Drummers / buglers are *not* combat soldiers but fulfill the same role as the band - unlike corps of drums within army infantry regiments. They are separate from the band, but still integrated within the RMBS, and not the 3 Cdo Bde.

As far as I am aware all Drummers/Buglers used to be trained Royal Marines, by that I mean they earned the right to wear the Green Beret has this changed in recent years?

They are professional musicians and not Royal Marine Commandos. They have a wartime role in support of the Royal Marines though.
