Incredible!! Massive thanks for this series! Most of the ol timers (No offense) hate the new technology outlets. I'm locked into this! Thumbs up from Austin Tx A/P!

Polymer and chemistry guy here! Just a couple of comments on the PVC dipstick tube mod: Many grades of PVC contain plasticizers to make them softer and tougher, e.g., vinyl tubing. The plasticizers can get leached through contact with hydrocarbons, making the part more brittle (ever use a vinyl tube to siphon gas and notice it gets harder?) The part used on that engine may or may not be plasticized, but this is something to be aware of. Plus, PVC has a glass transition temperature around 80 deg C, which seems like a not unlikely temperature to encounter in an engine compartment. Pretty sketchy indeed! Very interesting video, I'm looking forward to the rest of the series! A suggestion: put a clock in the background so we can see how much time elapses.

Thanks much! Actually we're looking at installing the proper (pinch me!) tube and stick. Stay tuned!

Would like to see complete initial tear down real time start to finish. If people don’t want to watch everything then they can fast forward themselves. Don’t worry about length of video time.

I think KZbin calls that slow TV or something. I'll vid the next teardown and post! Thanks for watching!

I own an O-360 and consider it perhaps the most reliable engine out there. I have 1450 trouble free hours on it. There must be a dozen ways to overhaul an aero engine. More discussion of the rationale of how you are rebuilding this engine would be helpful at the get go. For example, are you going, with new cylinders or overhauling existing cylinders? What is prompting your decisions on this field overhaul? This series could be very informative so try to embellish it more.

We're going to go through that as we progress. Definitely on your points for sure. Going to do some shop visits also. Thanks!

Nice video and details. How do you guys manage the parts? (re-assembly) Each bolts goes back to the same cylinder? just curious how it works.

wondering the same thing. Also, that piston pin press is pretty neat!

G, day from Sydney, Australia. * camera over the top of the engine would be nice. * how do you know which cylinder head is which (are they numbered) on Lycoming and Continental engines. * do you purchase a re-build kit of Piston rings, gaskets or thread, valves. 🕳💥👀

We'll go through that as we take the journey. Fasten your seat belt! The overhead camera is a neat touch. We'll try that. I don't have as much hair as Gordon Ramsey or Bobby Flay though...
