What if I bandit Ammonium nitrate with the planter (only on one side). Is it wrong?

No it is not wrong, but maybe not best. In midwest US we use more Nitrogen than is covenient to apply with planter. Also we need Phosphorus feertilizer, which is best early & near seed. These are reasons for banding a high P with planter & applying N with different methods at other times.
