365,000 Mile BMW E39 Gets a COMPLETE Exterior Overhaul!

What a pleasure it was to have the opportunity to work on such a beautiful and unique E39, nonetheless a 365k mile one! About a week before filming this video, I spent 40 hours doing loads of maintenance to the car; including all new intake manifold related components, dual vanos rebuild, driveshaft maintenance, and miscellaneous other things.
After finishing the maintenance and starting on the paint work, I very quickly realized that the original condition BBS RC090's were going to be a total eye sore for the finished product. I quickly decided that, as SOON as I was finished with the paint work, I was going to refinish the wheels for the owner. Luckily, my good friends at Black Forest Industries helped supply me with brand new chrome hardware and dacromet coated nuts to give the wheels that last little bit of 'pop'.
All in all, I'm extremely happy with the way this car turned out! I absolutely love how honest this car is and how unbelievably well it has been taken care of for the past 22 years and 365k miles. The Oxford Green on tan interior is such a classic and timeless combination that will only continue to get better with age.

I have an E39 and an E36. I'm contemplating selling one of them, but I think I'll regret doing so... don't know if an E92 335i would be a good replacement for the 328i... or would it turn out to be a maintenence nightmare. Dammit.

@@nigalic Yeah, getting the E92 over the E36 is probably gonna be something that I'd regret later on. I've heard quite a few stories of people who had E36s and then selling it to get into E46 and E9x and then regretting their decisions. Same about E39 owners who went for E60s and F10s. They all say that the newer cars are just heavy, full of electronics and not as nice to drive as the older cars. I've never driven a 335i E92, but I figure it would be fast af.... I've only driven an e90 320d and that was kinda fun. What makes it worse is that the E36 that I own is a very nice specimen, completely stock and previously owned by a lady who did mostly highway miles. If I let this one go, its gonna be really difficult to come across such a car again. Sigh...

I've got a BMW m5 e39 with 478k miles, I still daily it doing 90 miles a day. This video is encouraging me to do a full crazy 4-day detail, last time I detailed it like that was at 410k miles. Brilliant video.

@@derekstocker6661 Nice, look after it and it will keep running. Mines now got 515k miles. Last summer I did a 7000-mile road trip, the only issue I had was a faulty fuel pump which was the original one from the factory.

Been driving my 2001 540i M sport 6 speed 17 years. Has 230K miles, chain guides just done, still were not broken, but time to do them. Car runs like a dream. Always has. I chane oil at 5K intervals, run eithanol free gas, and absolutely adore this car. Just got the new headlight assemblies from Hella. The Euro spec ones. ///M power

I have a 2005 E46 that is nearing 300,000 and I maintain it religiously. I also have a very low millage 2014 F10 with the M Sport option. Wonderful driving machines when properly taken care of.
