Tips for doing this great project 1. Always read the comments before starting a square. you’ll learn a lot. 2. Be aware the squares are not all a uniform size. 3. Keep one square out as a size template square if this important to you. 4. Too keep sizes similar - If the square needs to bigger, add a round of single, half double or double crochet to enlarge it. If the square looks like it’s going to be too large, you can down size the stitch size in last round, if Nadia says double crochet, you might be able to do it in 1/2 double crochet or even single to make the square smaller. 5. Everything looks better if it’s blocked. 6. Some people get better results with a smaller hook, like a 4.5mm or even a 4mm. Use what you enjoy. 7. Learn from my fail - I’ve got 20 balls of fluffy loose woven yarn. It looks cute but I’m constantly splitting it with my hook and the fluff doesn’t show up pretty or complicated stitches very well. Try a well woven yarn. 8. Sew in your ends. It sounds crazy but I enjoy sewing them in because it’s a sign of completion, a job well done. Please add your tips. It’s a big fun project and Nadia and her dad are great.

I don't think there's really any rhyme or reason to it. It's about preference and opinion.

My first attempt had waves. Second attempt doing 2dc ch2 2dc resulted in a perfectly flat finished square. Thank you and Dad for great tutorials with excellent close ups.

I have done many of these squares (#2) and find if you only do 2dc ch2 2dc in corners it will lay flat & look better. 5 rows = 6 inch square.

For everyone commenting regarding issues with this square being wavy, rumpled and not laying flat: instead of doing 3dc, chain 2, 3dc in the corner spaces, try 2 double crochets, chain 2, and 2 double crochets. This pattern inherently has some issues laying completely flat, but the fix mentioned above will make this less noticeable and easier to manage.

+Lisa Darling Yes, All the information you need can be found here: yarnutopia.com/365-days-of-granny-squares/ Not all links will have written patterns since these are all very simple small projects. All squares will be roughly around the same size so they can be sewn together and attached at the end of the year.

Can I just crochet over my stragglers instead of weaving in?
@Angie-in8wc2 жыл бұрын
Yes, just make sure the tail is long enough that it won’t unravel when the blanket is washed.

feed back and tip to all of you that is trying out this pattern in your own choice of color on rows 5 and up i would highly recommand for you to try to do this instead as shown in the video , for your corners try 3 dc ,ch 2, 3 dc a and instead of having 21 stitched in each dc try mount of 19 . and if you desire to go more rounds as 6 like i did i would try out total of 25 stitches in total i did total of 6 rows in this video tutorial trial and my total stitched i did was 27 on row 6 but of course as i discribed in the comments my square came out bulgy and wouldnt come out flat even tho i steamed ironed it . its still bulgy . but even tho its bulgy i did got it as blocked as i could so im continue on process of making more blocked to make a big blanket with it . i hope those of you try this info may help of you . .. great video btw Faud Azmat !

hiya, for some reason I can not get this to stay flat, it's like I have too many stitches per row, its rippling! Can you give me any help please, I am determined to do ALL of these granny squares and make a nice big hippy blanket, yeah !!!!!
@YARNutopia8 жыл бұрын
In the corners, you can put [1dc, ch 2, 1 dc] or you can put [2 dc, ch 2, 2 dc] in the corners instead. Then it should stay flat. Good luck!! ~Nadia

@DaisyDreamingSims7 жыл бұрын
This is my issue as well. I guess I am going to take off the outer row, as it makes it bigger than the other squares. Mine is also wavy, so I guess I will go back and only do 2 in the corners as others have suggested.
