The fact that Aaron is trusting Robert again (at least on this issue) is HUGE. It's a gigantic step of them getting closer and hopefully eventually get back together.

That final scene where Chas hallucinates is amazing! It's so creepy! Had chills the first time I watched it. Lucy Pargeter and Ryan Hawley were brilliant.

good on Rob for apologizing to Chrissie..now they can both move on... that scene with Robert and Chas was SO creepy " Andy's nuts........keep up" . Kudos to ED for shooting the scene with Ryan's back facing Lucy, that is what made it so creepy. If he had faced her the entire time, it would have loss it's effect. I'm impressed with Lucy's acting, before this storyline I didn't know she could be this good

+Alicia Robinson They truly have the best cast. Even secondary characters surprise you when given the opportunity to shine (not that chas is secondary, I´m talking about others). A lot of great actors in Emmerdale.

Dan Frost I know. The fantastic actress playing Hazel (Pauline) was an example of that. But you also have people who really surprise you like the one playing Ruby. Totally seconday and pretty much never had a big story but damn it she nailed her dying scenes this summer. And I don´t think she had too much experience before Emmerdale. Or Danny before Emmerdale. Or Ryan now. In general they do a great casting job.

Robert is working hard. Trying to be decent with Andy, Aaron and Chrissie is tough for a seasoned bad boy. It seems he has no ulterior motives or he is tired of perpetual mastermind manipulation. Whatever the case I love this somewhat rehabilitated Robert. Maybe my wishful thinking of A&R holiday reunion is not that far-fetched.

Have they learned nothing? They shouldn't keep Chas alone by herself in the state she's in. I really love how worried Aaron is for his mom, setting aside his problems with Robert to inquire about her 'stalker', and being the first to realize that she could be mentally ill. So Aaron believes Robert and they actually had a civilized conversation for the first time in what seemed like half a year, and I guess if not for protecting Andy, Robert would tell Aaron everything. There is some hope for them after all, I do want their relationship to build back up from this small interaction. I also think the court scenes were good, though Robert's conversation with Lachlan wasn't necessary, it downplayed Robert's apology to Chrissie, and Lachlan being propped as a poor little misunderstood rapist trying to do good by his mom absolutely does not work for me.

+Trisha Carter Lachlan has changed ever since he had the meltdown over seeing Belle with Kirin. It may have been in the full episode and not the clips posted here but he overheard them saying that he was some dark character. He was then seen crying and saying (to himself) that he didn't want to be a dark character. Then he snuck into the Halloween party because he wanted to have fun but got kicked out and found Belle drunk. As Zack put it, he was a perfect gentleman when he saw to it that she got home safely. He's also no longer wearing his stocking cap. His scene with Robert had everything to do with convincing him not to send Chrissie down because if Robert did he'd lose his mum to jail, and he wouldn't be able to handle it. And Robert complied.

+michael7572 In real life people stop wearing something because they get tired of it. But in soaps and drama, costume changes are often meant to signal other changes in the character as well. Lachlan is changing. It's interesting to see some Robert apologists who are still hard on Lachlan. I don't approve of Lachlan's crimes, but they're fewer and lesser than Robert's. And I don't hate Robert. I just don't have any delusions about Robert's supposed altruism.

+alwaysuseless Lachlan sexually assaulted Alicia, stalked and harassed Belle when he knew she was mentally ill (destroyed her personal belongings, etc.), tampered with his grandfather's meds, stole a loaded gun and nearly shot two people with it, and sexually assaulted or harassed another woman, before his family arrived in the village. He's paid zero price for any of this, and has no regret over anything he's done. I'm sure someone will say, "Robert is worse," but the main difference between Lachlan and Robert is that no one on the show goes out of their way to whitewash Robert. Plenty of people do this with Lachlan. After Lachlan told Chrissie that he had never hurt any woman (which should have terrified her, as it meant he still didn't believe he'd assaulted Alicia and could be back on the path to assaulting another woman), her only response was to basically say Lachlan was still a good person, unlike Robert, and that everything Lachlan did was Robert's fault, even though Lachlan was already hurting women before Robert was ever a part of the family. Then there's Lachlan going out alone at night, wearing a mask, solely to cause trouble at the party of a man whose wife he sexually assaulted. Did this upset anyone? Apparently not, because he didn't attack Belle, so therefore he is a good person now. If I saw redemption in Lachlan I would be less bothered by him. Instead I see a young man who is in denial about his history of sexual assault, and a young man who, like his mother, believes everyone else is mean to him and nothing is his fault. So I have to assume unless the show actually believes that he is now "good," then it's just a matter of time before he attacks yet another woman.

+alwaysuseless I totally agree. It´s hilarious to see how some people think Robert is redeemable but are so hard on a teenager calling him all types of things (not saying if he does or doesn´t deserve it). At least be unbiased damn it! That´s the main problem with some Robert lovers. They want others to quickly forget what has happened when they don´t apply that to others. If there´s no redemption in Lachlan there is no redemption in Robert. Don´t see the big difference. Lachlan apologized to Alicia a few months after assaulting her, it has taken Robert a lot more time to start doing something good. People love Robert the character cause he is manipulative and creates drama, that´s fine and is obvious and I do too. But hell don´t excuse him while you don´t with other characters. Be true to the fact you like his awful actions (you like to watch them I mean) and accept they have happened. It´s his nature and he won´t change his ways in general. And if he can change then everybody can. It´s priceless to see some people´s excuses (and I´m not particularly talking about you @Frank, you John lover lol).

+sanyrub Well, I think up until this point Robert is still redeemable, but if he ever does what Lachlan has done; sexually assaulting someone, not feeling any remorse about it and acting like it never happened, he will be just as irredeemable as Lachlan is. Since this is a soap, you have to analyze and try to understand where the character is coming from when they do bad things. Of course some of what Robert has done was for self-gain, but the worst things he did was purely because of fear, and that makes a lot of viewers sympathize with him. Of course this should never be done in real life, but it's important to remember that this isn't real life. Robert has, albeit not often, been given a sympathetic POV for a lot of the things he did, so don't act surprised when people sympathize with him and see the good in him, which the show is purposely showing us more and more of. He is not meant to be seen as a "2D pure evil super villain" or whatever. He is supposed to be complex and interesting, and that includes both good and bad. Lachlan has never been given this POV and has never showed fear or any other sympathetic traits for the things he has done. That is why a lot of people find Robert redeemable but not Lachlan. You might not agree with this line of thinking, but it is just as legit as any other interpretation.

It's after 3:00am and although I'm not usually skittish, I was just hoping that Rob's face wouldn't be some kind of a mess when he turned around. Thankfully, it wasn't. Chas has seriously lost her mind, though. I hope that Cain believes Aaron cuz they're wasting precious time with their futile investigations. She needs help NOW. And I knew that Rob would do right by Chrissie. Even without Lachlan's plea, I don't think he ever intended to screw her over. He seems to be genuinely tired of all the shadiness and just wants to make amends so he can get on with his life. Eric is just going to have to find a way to move on as well.

This episode should make the Robert apologists happy. Whenever he does the right or decent thing, they're not inclined to ask what's in it for him. A lot of people in Emmerdale hate, dislike, or distrust Robert. From his point of view whom does he want to be on better terms with at this point? Chrissie thought Robert would want to hurt her. She thinks that because she's wanted to hurt him. But Robert doesn't want to hurt anyone, per se. He just wants to do what's best for him.

michael7572 I'm sorry but the way I feel about that is we can't expect every person on the planet to filter every word out of their mouths for fear of being politically incorrect, spoilers ahead, etc. I feel that if I really don't want to know something I personally will not watch or read anything about it whatsoever. I am like that with the American series How to Get Away with Murder. I watch no commercials, visit no links and view no videos, tweets or anything what so ever to do with the show including all past episodes too for fear someone drops something about the show that hasn't been seen yet...

I love how after Lachlan give Robert a strict talking, Robert eventually told the court jury that his wife could not have known what was going on with the fire when she set fire to his car. I guess she was upset and angry about Robert lying and cheating so, she immediately did something drastic but did not know that "that something drastic" would lead to a helicopter crash, leading to many injuries and one death of Rob's aunt, Val( Valerie). He actually owned up, stating it was "his fault" that Chrissie did this. If Robert had not done what he did, I don't think Chris would have reacted in the way she did and nobody will have any injury and nobody will die.
