Hello Fella, a very nice presentation of different odds and ends from Snapperville. And yes Jim, you are the Mayor of that provence. This is why I watch your videos as I am wanting a job as vice-mayor for Snapperville. Not to be confused with a part of the opposite genders. Good day and peace to you my good friend and mechanic who helps me keep my Snapper going strong. VF

Hi Jim - it's Big Rodders in Ireland. I've already sent you photos but perhaps viewers may be interested to learn that I fitted a 17 or 18 amp/hr sealed gel battery to my 1996 model. I get them from a hospital engineer who is required to replace them on equipment regularly even though they remain operational. They perform extremely well with no adverse issues and enable me to leave the machine upended indefinitely. On the subject of unending the mower, this once vapour locked the cylinder and damaged the flywheel key, upset the timing and made the engine run very hot and misfire. This happened despite me turning off the gas, or petrol as we call it. I now run the carb dry before unending it and have had no problems since. Keep on Snapping!

AGM "Absorbed Glass Matt" are the batteries that don't leak. I use one in my motorcycle. They make them for almost anything. Thanks Jim for all the great informative videos.👍

Good info Jim! Can you just put a long screw where the ground block is? Why the plastic on the grounding block? Just curious! Thanks!

Got a cheap snapper that someone had messed with. The choke would not snap back to the unchoked position and the throttle linkage does nothing. Also the governor spring looks like it's not the same one as what yours shows. I wish there was a clear diagram online for this, but I can't find one.

Great tutorial on adjusting the control bracket Jim! I’m catching up on your videos. I recently did maintenance on my rider and noticed I was very low on gear oil which tends to leak out. Last time I rebuilt the machine I used the cork gasket and gasket sealer like you did but it still leaks. I’m not looking forward to rebuilding the differential again.

Did you try tightening all the screws that hold the cover on sometimes the cork or shrink slightly making it loose are usually go back and re-tighten the screws two or three times Over a period of two or three months after assembly. Jim
@stevef89933 жыл бұрын
I did that recently but I guess I should have done that right after the initial rebuild. If oil gets through the gasket seal will it keep leaking even after tightening?

@@stevef8993 Not usually if you re-snug them that should take care of it I guess keep your eye on it And see what happens, let me know. Jim

Sir, I had the same problem, ordered the control bracket: My issue and I hope you can direct me is; the new control bracket came with a plastic black piece threaded through a zip tie, it also came with a second smaller bracket. Also the area where the throttle cable is supposed to be held in place has the holes for the clamp but the hole where the screw is supposed to screw into does not have threads..... Im thinking they sent me a different bracket for the engine I have. Im confused right now
@jimjackson93813 жыл бұрын
Some engines don’t need that extra piece that’s a zip tied to the bracket if you sent me a picture of it I could tell you for sure but as far as the screw for the clamp some of them screws are self tapping and you have to do that when you screw it in the first time otherwise if you can check the screw size you can just run a tab through there and clean out the whole if you wanna send me a picture my email is jimsfixitshop@gmail.com Thanks. Jim

what is the part number for the choke throttle bracket. I have a 2008 12.5 briggs intek.

You’ll have to go on Parts Tree.Com with your engine numbers and some engines take different control brackets than others. Don’t throw your old one away because some of them do not come with the magneto shorting block. You’ll have to take that out of yours and put it in the new one. Jim
