there are different dividers to divide the signal coming from the Oscillator then it goes to the synthesizer where it is compared with the reference which gives an error voltage which is then buffered and sent back to the Oscillator so there must be a problem with one of the divide by 2,10,100,1000 chips.

One of the pieces of "Recommended Equipment" in the manual for the 5384A/5385A is an 804a signal generator...the only problem is that I don't believe that piece of equipment even exists.

Hi. Whats that all about with remaining flux on the board? I hear that very often during teardown videos (from Dave especially). Is it such a big deal? I know it looks messy and non professional but that stuff is not conductive. I understand that it might be a problem in hard conditions like high humidity and large temperature differences like in automotive but is it such a big problem in equipment that is used indoors?

Usually I look for signs of repairs, and flux residue might be an indication. I don't think it was the case here. Most probably the last step on the factory was to solder the through-hole components, and they decided not to clean up after that. Yes, looks a bit messy and unprofessional.

Not really, but Dave and co needs something to talk about and rust, uncleaned flux go to legitimate presentation issues. etc

I know you won't leave us hanging on this one! Time to get a SA I suppose! ;-) By any chance does your scope do FFT and if so well enough to allow you to view the signal(s) with sufficient resolution/dynamic range to make those adjustments? Just thinking out loud.
@feedback-loop9 жыл бұрын
+Dino Papas The scope does FFT. But this adjustment needs to be done at 750Mhz, which is way beyond the bandwidth of the scope.

Its interesting that they provide a bank of LED's to show rail status but our first instinct is to measure the rails !

your voice sounds like russian. This generator should be verificated with spectrum analyzer and power meter. The oscilloscope is not primary equipment to check the generator. But thank you for the video
