lol, this made my day :) I've been working through your other videos, and this is the best one yet. Good old humor is just the ticket sometimes ;) Thanks again for taking the time to make these videos, I know it's a lot of work.

Hey Jster.... I have been watching your videos on the atlas 618 restoration and have been inspired since I have just begun to get my old 618 up and running. I have a question for you. I was investigating a problem I have with my 3 jaw Atlas chuck in that it does not seat against the shoulder of the spindle. I googled looking for an answer to this issue and saw your post on Hobby- machinist site where you ran into exact same issue as me. FWIW... My faceplate seats perfectly. It looks like the 3-jaw should have a recess shoulder cut into the backside of the chuck at the beginning of threads. What was your solution? Thanks
@jster19639 жыл бұрын
+tim9lives Thank you very much! I hope you get your machine up and running. First you have to make sure the threads are clean on the spindle and the chuck. If that is the case, you may have to do what I did. I had to machine off the first few threads on the inside of the chuck. That allowed it to seat nicely. Let me know what you find out. Ps. I think I have a vid showing how I did that, but I can't remember......

It's funny you should ask that! I been thought to be an insurance salesman, a teacher, a computer programmer, and a few other things. You are half right! I have my Bachelors of Science in Mechanical Engineering. However, that's not what I do for a living. You are the only one that was close......
