There is a mistake when describing the plasmon peak at 4:04. Plasmon is caused by the collective oscillation of the weakly bound electrons (in the conduction or valence band), not the lattice.

Hi. Can you please tell me. What do we understand by that negative energy spread in zero loss peak (ZLP) in the EELS spectra.?

Excellent question - I actually do not have the answer for that. I assume it is from the very localized transient lattice vibration.

@@kelvinxiemsentamu6890 Can we say, it's an instrumental issue. And the source itself has a energy spread. May this be the reason for Negative energy? And the electron can pick up energy from the sample due to phonon interaction and the excitation of samples' atom. Is my explanation satisfactory?
