#37: Tackle and Tips and Some Big Rainbows at Lechlade

This was yet another blustery day at Lechlade Trout fishery. My method of pulling snakes on sinking lines really worked well. I caught 3 of my 4 fish on snakes after 2 fish the go pro died on me. Also Caught a stunning 15lbs rainbow on a heavy silver stalking pattern which I cast 2 rod Lengths out.

Use a handshake knot on lines with welded loops, doesn’t cut into the line as easily.

Interesting that you don't put a tuck in the blood knot Martyn, do you think it makes much difference?

I find if I tuck it the knot doesn't form very nice.

Hello, I just wanted to ask you ? What brand of reels do prefer for stillwater. Do you like cassette type spools ? I have a 9.5' - 6wt. Greys. & I'm trying to match up a reel. Thanks. Ray from Oregon USA.

Morning Ray, I think for Stillwater fishing the cassette reels are your best option. Generally Stillwater anglers use around 3 or 4 different lines so buying space cassettes is by far the cheapest option. I believe that greys also make a cassette reel to match your rod.

Your leader material appears to be Seaguar not Riverge as well......are they made in the same factory? I've not tried Seaguar, but like Riverge except the cost.
