1) Practice regularly. 2) Consistency is key. 3) Do scales and arpeggios. 4) Sight read regularly. 5) Practice hands separately. 6) Work on your articulation. 7) Master the pedalling. 8) Spend time without the pedal. 9) Listen attentively to the tone you are producing. 10) Write down your fingerings where necessary. 11) Inform yourself about the composers and the historical context of the piece. 12) Have understanding of the various musical forms and music analysis. 13) Know basic harmony and chord progressions. 14) Find professional guidance and good mentors that inspire you . 15) Practice with full attention (as if there is a master in the room listening). 16) Always have a plan. 17) Practice with a timer. 18) Have a strategy for learning a new piece. 19) Limit your distractions when practicing. 20) Play backwards. 21) Relax your arms and your shoulders. 22) Try to maintain your hand in its natural form. 23) Sit at a comfortable height. 24) Try to be aware of all unnecessary tension. 25) Don’t be sloppy when playing (creates bad habits). 26) Record yourself regularly. 27) Do mental practice away from the instrument. 28) Know how to read the score, understand it and interpret the writings of the composer. 29) Develop your sense of rhythm. 30) Practice with a metronome wherever necessary. 31) Don’t repeat the passages but PRACTICE them. 32) Play pieces of various composers. 33) Play various musical forms. 34) Listen to great artists. 35) Practice contemporary music. 36) Give yourself time to digest. 37) Perform as much as you can.

Just realized that! But I never knew how to say that composer’s name. For decades I’ve said “list.” Now if only I could find out how to pronounce “scherzo” and “Scriabin” (!!!!).
