There's a guy who makes tons of mashups on a synth keyboard. One he cannot do is the Miami Vice theme vs Airwolf. In fact nobody touches the Miami Vice theme, it's always Crockett's theme and I don't like that song 😂 Are you up to the challenge of Miami Vice vs Airwolf? 10:18 Since I first heard it in 1979, Pink Floyd's "Brick in the Wall 2" has always sounded overtly disco to me. It's their Blondie's "Heart of Glass", their Michael Jackson's "Don't Stop 'Til You Get Enough", their Rod Stewart's "Da Ya Think I'm Sexy?", their Sweet's "Love Is Like Oxygen", their KISS's "I Was Made for Loving You", their Led Zeppelin's "All My Love", and a fairly, fairly long etcetera. A whole lot of Pop, Glam, Hard Rock and even Prog Rock bands and soloists of the era turned their hand to disco, at least for one album in the late 1970s. Disco was everywhere. Disco was where it was at. You simply couldn't escape *_DISCO_* 😱😱🕺💃

I’ve always compared the end of One Day Like This to the end of Hey Jude. It was obviously inspired by it, but I didn’t realise it was literally the same key and chords. The Hey Jude vocals over One Day Like This instrumental sounds great.

These mashups and swaps are breaking my brain! I know they're not supposed to work but they do so well!

Less educational, but funnier is the switching between songs of lyrics, with melody and backing music, called "One Song to the Tune of Another" by a long-running BBC Radio 4 comedy show. One switch that comes to mind right now is the words to "Amazing Grace" sung to the tune of "The House of the RIsing Sun." As you might imagine, there are many other pairs - a common lyric easily used to almost any tune is Marvin Gaye's "Sexual Healing."

My favourites are Killing Me Softly to the tune of The Bear Necessities, and A Whiter Shade of Pale to the tune of the Muppet Show intro! Fantastic stuff, even with Colin Sell banging away on the piano 😉

When I heard Speed of Sound as a kid, I've always thought that it sounded similar to Clocks, and I have always believed that it is the sequel to Clocks. I didn't know why. Today you have explained to me, one of my life's mysteries. Thank you. I appreciate you

Coldplay were listening to Kate Bush's Running Up That Hill which in turn inspired Speed of Sound 🙂

At 1:00, if anyone's brain is exploding trying to grok this, it's being expressed as if the key signature is major, which seems a bit odd to me, but some people do that. Since both songs are in minor, I'd probably call the progression i VI III VII.

Linkin park loves to use major chords in places where the ear expects minor. Crawling is a great example.

Both are valid, you might write it as major if the song later switches to a more traditionally sounding major bit but never really truly modulates. Although I think I would agree with you that in the case of these songs I would write them both as you suggest.

I really enjoyed the break downs of these songs, I like learning about how artists get their inspiration and influences from. Especially some of the original rappers that got most of their track loops from their parents old jazz music records. I really liked Earth Angel vocals with I will always love you instrumental, and Hey Jude vocals with Elbow instrumental. They have a haunting nostalgic sound like an homage to the original.
