I had two c sections and totally fine, I actually appreciated the calm organised delivery and you have a full team with you. The only recommendation is that when they ask you in the first 24 hours if you need pain medication say yes even if it’s not painful, if it becomes painful they have a hard time getting the pain back under control so it’s better to stay ahead of it. I didn’t make that mistake the second time!

I have to agree with this. It helps to stay ahead of the pain. I learned pretty fast that I had to remind my nurses that it was time for another dose of pain meds.

2 c-sections and agree! 1st was an emergency c-section, it was a bit traumatic so I scheduled it for baby no.2 and it was way more civilized lol. Very calm and organized and we were discharged after one night (typically it’s 2 nights)

Tips for recovery from c-section: get up and move around as soon as possible and try to get up and go for short walks after you’re home (but don’t over do it); let Dan and your family handle the cleaning, cooking, laundry, etc, when baby is tiny sleep when they sleep; you take care of the baby and let everyone else take care of you!

I am an ObGyn and C Sections are way over terrorized especially online. When baby is breech definitely the safest way to deliver is c section. Most cesareans, especially planned ones go very well and are very straightforward. Wishing you the best, and hoping for a healthy mom and baby! ❤

My first son was breach and I had a wonderful experience with my scheduled c-section. I loved knowing what day it was happening. Getting a baby out of your body is never easy, but when you’re pregnant everyone feels the need to tell you all of their worst birth stories. That’s why I love telling people my positive c-section experience. With my second son I elected to have another planned c-section but I ended up going into labor the day before. Still had a C-section but was in labor for several hours beforehand. This really made me appreciate that I didn’t have to experience the horrible labor pains the first time around!

I had a c section 8 months ago so it's still relatively fresh in my mind. I used a pillow pressed against my abdomen when getting up and down, it helped with the pain. I rolled to my side and used my arms to push up to get out of bed. Using your abs and getting up normally is painful. It's like your abs don't work anymore. I also used a step stool getting in and out of bed which helped prevent some discomfort. I got up and walked as soon as I was unfrozen to get that catheder out asap. It took about 8 hours before I wasn't numb anymore. My biggest advice would be to mentally prepare for the paralysis of the c section. You won't be able to move at all and it's so weird. You'll feel the pulling and tugging and that is also weird. The minute the baby is out you'll feel relief from all the pressure and everything after that is a blur. So excited for you and Dan. You'll be amazing parents.

Hi Amie! Glad to hear that you weren’t married to your original birth plan. Both of my kids were born via Cesareans, my daughter was an emergency one and my son’s was scheduled. My daughter’s birth was scary as it was an emergency and she was not breathing when she was born. I also developed complications so we spent the first 2 weeks of her life in ICU. Luckily, I had a healthy pregnancy & stayed active so that helped tremendously with her survival & our recoveries. She is now almost 20 years old, healthy & attending her second year of college. My son was born safely & healthy is now 18! Best advice is to listen to your doctors & take care of yourself. Let your family & friends take care of the house, chores & Yoshi. Best of luck to you & enjoy your little one when they arrive! 🥰

I am really glad to hear that you are doing well. I don’t have children but I have had lots of surgery and it’s nothing to be scared of. The unknown can always be scary and I was the first time. Then I woke up and thought is that all there is to it? You can have some lingering effects if you have an Anescetic, I had a few weeks of some fatigue and a bit of dizziness but not enough to seriously bother me and it varies every time. I have had two epidurals and had no reaction to those at all. I was told after the last one that the Valium drip they gave me had hysterical results. Apparently I was singing music hall songs during the operation but I don’t remember it. How embarrassing! Yosi is so beautiful and funny. He is such a boy too. They do tend to live by the phrase, “the best things in life are dirty.”

Hi, Amie! Thanks for the updates! I had 2 c-sections. I was terrified as well, never having had surgery prior to that. Everyone has given good advice. I would like to add that the team you will have inside the operating room will make you feel amazing and well cared for. My team turned up the music and were upbeat but focused and made me feel at ease. I guess I was expecting worried, serious faces looking at me! Take a good shower before you head out (not that I doubt you would!). I thankfully did, and when I had to give a man I had just met (not sure what his job was!) a big bear hug while they worked on my spinal tap, I was so grateful that I knew I smelled good! Last bit of advice - have everything washed and ready to go. I had a date set for her c-section at around 39 1/2 weeks but my water broke at 37 1/2 weeks (hence the hasty departure to the hospital before which I insisted I take a full shower and hair wash before I left). My kiddos are now 19 & 16 and it still feels like yesterday in some ways. Good luck to you and congrats to you and the whole family!

I had two C sections with both my kids. I had preeclampsia with both labors so they went for C sections to keep us all safe. I also didn’t have a labor plan I was attached to. My thoughts were always to go with the flow and to just do what’s needed to make sure my babies were safely delivered. Having that attitude definitely made the whole experience less stressful and calm. Just take it step by step and don’t think too much about what’s going to happen in advance because obviously things can change last minute based on your progress. Recovery for c sections takes time but nothing to be concerned about. Like others have suggested, keep moving to get your body back to normal. Wishing you and your baby a safe and healthy L&D!

The across body bag nappy bags are pretty but personally a backpack type nappy bags are more practical because one always ends up carrying the baby and the bag at the same time. Easier on the back/easier to walk. Especially when out and about alone. That is one tip I’d give to FTM

Such a joyful video, dear Amie! ❤❤ You are SO brave with white rugs with a puppy AND a baby! 😉 Yoshi is sooooo cute! When I was expecting, I WANTED a c-section because I was so afraid of natural childbirth. Lol. My only sister had had one, so it’s all I knew. She did well with one and I did well without one. Congrats to you & Dan! I’m so excited for you both. If you think you are busy now… you will be way busier once the baby comes. Our oldest is in her 2nd year at uni in the UK (we live in California) & our son will graduate high school next year. Time has gone by so fast and seems go by faster & faster with each passing year. I had an emergency C-section with our 1st baby because she wouldn’t come out & that was scary & an experience all together. I had a great team of doctors at Stanford & am thankful everything turned out well. But, I don’t think I was mentally prepared or even thinking about the fact that I would even need a C-section when I was pregnant. I feel that knowledge is power, so it’s great that you are trying to prepare yourself mentally for the possibility that you may need a C-section. Postpartum was more difficult because of the surgery & it took me a long time to recover and feel like myself. With the birth of our son, I had a planned C-section because he was a HUGE baby. I’m very petite (only 5’ tall) & I had an over 9 lb baby growing inside of me when we all decided that a planned C-section would be better & a delivery before the due date. Everything went much smoother with the 2nd C-section and the postpartum was much better also because I knew what to expect & our son is now over 6’1” and doing well. Please take care of yourself & the baby by wearing a high quality face mask (N95 or better) and having air filtration with HEPA filters & ventilation of indoor spaces. There are a lot of complications that can occur to mother & baby due to Covid-19 infections that can lead to long term problems (cardiovascular problems, developmental problems, etc.). No one talks about this & I feel that it is important for more people to know that a Covid-19 infection can be detrimental to mother & baby. Best of luck to you and the baby!! I will be thinking of you & praying for an easy delivery & postpartum recovery ❤❤❤!

I've never had a c-section, but I remember a KZbinr I watched recently really liked wearing a soft belly band for awhile post-csection to help their stomach feel more normal. They mentioned without the band their stomach, stomach muscles and organs felt a bit strange while their belly was adjusting back to not having to make space for baby.

Recovery was quite quick (my scar is barely visible now), after 2 weeks I was feeling much better and I was walking the day after the section. Right after the section they helped me to have a shower and I felt a bit like myself very quickly 😊. My second is due in January, so I hear you in terms of being tired (and ready to have the baby!). Our first one was also breached around three weeks before the due date, and the doctor recommended a c-section. I was sort of relieved not needing to go thru the actual birth, and my mom was very supportive of it. She wanted to spare me the pain and recovery. So, I went on the scheduled day to hospital, with a full make up, and was ready for the first photo with my baby. The recovery was very smooth for me. I may have stopped the pain management all together around 3 or 4 days after the procedure. I left the hospital one day early, but I would not recommend it. I ended up not be able to rest at home. Wishing you both and the baby all the very best! ❤

Had the same situation with the baby in the wrong direction. My C-section went well, went into labor on her due date, she was ready to come! I highly suggest a belly binder!! It helps keep the stitches tight and not pulling but also gives you the support that is needed when moving about. So many people have 1000 suggestions on how to be with baby, don’t compare what other parents are doing, go with what works for you. Baby won’t do a schedule, don’t worry about it! They have no place to go! You do what works for your family. Period! I also say you can’t hold/carry the baby too much!! They are a newborn/baby/infant for such a short amount of time, enjoy every minute!!!! Best of luck!

I had the same issue...first pregnancy, muscles are not stretched yet. My OBGYN sent me for several ultrasounds, as my circumference measurement was pretty small. However, every single time I had the ultrasound, my baby was in the 80th percentile or so. The ultrasound tech acted like this was a pretty common finding with a first pregnancy when stomach muscles are not stretched too much yet. My "baby' is a healthy 10 year-old now, so my experience taught me not to worry much about our circumference measurements:) Congrats again!!

My little one is 10 months and I was in a similar position earlier this year with concerns for a large baby (estimated 10lbs at 37 weeks) options were induction or section. With a section, I felt more in control, knew the date and what was going to happen, especially after the uncertainty after the growth scans and all the worry that comes along with those. Section was fine. Healed well, up and about the next day. The only thing I wasn’t prepared for was the waiting for surgery. So any emergencies are priority and you’re not always privy to the running order so I was waiting around until mid afternoon starving and on my own (covid visitation rules) so bring a book and chill. Your baby will be with you when it’s time x

I had a c section and honestly the recovery sounded easier than many of my friends who had vaginal deliveries! The best thing you can do is make sure to rest and not push yourself but also make sure to get up and go on walks (but just take it slow). I’m pregnant w baby no2 and very tempted to just do a planned C-section again because of how easy the first was but you never know! Excited for you!

For starters, get the freida mom mesh undies! I had the always diapers as well, but I found that they were uncomfortable on my incision personally. The freida mom undies felt supportive, but didn't irritate anything for me. I had a C-section after 2 hours of pushing, baby not flipping the right way (not breech, but facing the wrong direction), and then heart rate dropping too low. I unfortunately found out the hard way that I am allergic to oxycodone, but my husband helped me manage when to take my Tylenol. I definitely agree with making sure to get up and walk around as soon as you can, but also listen to your body, and don't overdo it.

Yeah Yoshi is so adorable and truly he will not know how white he is, lol. My brother's Rottweiler last time likes to climb on me not knowing how heavy she is...Ouch....so when the baby is here, 1 thing have to be careful not to let Yoshi climb on the baby. Have to train him to be gentle. Wish you a smooth delivery and hope everything goes well. Cheers 🤗

Hello! Good luck ... But I know it will be fine. Take the painkillers regularly for the length they recommend, paracetamol and ibuprofen. Have a baby change setup near your bed (I used a little travel happy change mat) as they are goingto be next to you during the night so you don't need to go far to change in the middle.of the night. Get a cleaner for as long as you need. think about getting a night nurse ... They are often midwives. It can be a godsend.

So many prayers and well wishes for your delivery Amie and for baby (boy?!) ❤️ Not a mom, but an Aunti. I would say (again without experience ) if your drs are still recommending a csection as you get closer to the date to schedule one day after your scheduled due date. I’m a believer that your body will decide when the baby will come when it’s ready (and that’s why so many show up early). As such it’s important for the baby to develop as much as possible in the womb. And your due date and the doctors advice is the best indication Of that, and when it should be scheduled if necessary. Moms, please chime in, would love to hear your thoughts :)

Glad to hear you and the baby are well. I also had 2 pregnancies with more scans than usual for different reasons. The reason why you have a big baby but small bump could be because you have been excercising before and your abbs are tight :) My second was transverse but the doctor managed to turn it so didn’t have a c- section but all my friends that had an “elective” ie non emergency one had a good experience. Just make sure you have loads of help as you can’t really carry the baby in the first week or 2. Best of luck with everything. It’s so close now

Very excited for you and your motherhood journey! Never had a birth plan, all I knew is I want the epidural when I can get it. As a nurse, I know anything can happen, so I hoped to give birth vaginally but prepared mentally there's a chance I could be in labor for 24 hours and still have a c section. That's exactly what happened to me, ended up with an emergency c-section. But it turned out well. Baby came out healthy, and I healed well, no complications. 3 c sections later, I am still thriving! You will be ok!

Such exciting times for you, Amie! ☺️ I’d love to get a dog before having a baby (I’ve wanted a dog since I was a child!) but not sure we can manage it with work and having to go into the office a few days a week 😕 best of luck with your next couple of weeks before giving birth! ❤️

Thanks for the vlog and sharing baby updates Amie. Learned a lot. Can you share how you manage to keep your home so clean when you’re so busy? Especially because you lived in an apartment so the transition to a larger house must take some getting used to. You and dan, or do you hire help? It looks beautiful and so relaxing and pleasing to the eye. Also, would love to hear how you and dan (and your mom) plan to split duties when baby comes? Take care ❤️

I had my first baby by c-section and it was totally fine and my baby arrived totally healthy. My second baby was born VBAC and it was a much more difficult birth. Try not to worry about the c-section, if you have to have one. Wishing you a safe and healthy delivery!

❤❤❤So excited for you, Amie! 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻😁 Don’t worry about your upcoming C-section. I’ve had 3 and I’m glad. I didn’t choose it but my first baby was also breech. My vagina wasn’t bothered through either 3 births and my babies came out safe with their perfectly round heads instead of ‘egg like’ when going through a birth canal. Lol. 😂 So yeah, enjoy your birth, quick recovery and great memories. It’s priceless! Oh, I also had to move a lot after my C-sections and wear a waist belt for a month each time. Helps to snap back to your pre pregnancy shape and with your tummy muscles. 🍂🍁🦃

I planned to have normal delivery but then ended up emergency c section which was terrible (not going into details 😂). Now think back, a planned c section would be a lot better and nicer and safer. So I think u made the right choice to have c section! And I recovered fine!!! Exciting time!!!! Good luck 😊

C section is fine and you usually are able to have it around 38weeks so take advantage of that! Maybe think about your dog you don’t want a dog going off all the time when b you are trying to put a baby asleep. I used to put our dog in our laundry for a bit and then let her out when it’s nice and quiet

My two middle kids were csections, and they went well. Make sure t have a boppy type pillow with you to the hospital and one upstairs and downstairs at home. Even if you don't breastfeed, they are very helpful for holding and bottle feeding baby in the right position without putting pressure on your belly. A bassinet in your room and a place to change little one close to where you sleep is nice, even walking to the crib and lifting baby out can be hard on your incision. underwear that is not going to rub or sit right near the incision is so much more comfortable.

I had a normal delivery and then a couple of c-sections . Definitely c-section seemed easier to me because my labour lasted a long time . And this was a long time ago. I guess now things with c-sections will be even better .

Don't stress too much about not finishing the nursery, as most people don't use it until later, as baby sleeps in a bassinet near you for the first several months. Having a c-section myself, some tips are the same as the lovely ladies below - keep up with the pain meds, even when you are home. I thought after the 3rd day and left for home I didn't need them - BIG MISTAKE. Move around to help your mobility, and wear a belly band to help with the compression of your stomach and the bloating. This might be TMI but brace yourself for your first bathroom trip after birth 🥲. Have a wonderful and safe birth! You and Dan will do great!!! xx

Hi Aime. 4 out of my 5 babies were c sections. I’ve never had any complications at all and it’s always been a positive experience. Ask the hospital to put baby straight on your chest post delivery so you can have lovely snuggles as they stitch you up. Weighing, cleaning etc can wait. I would suggest knickers (not very sexy lol) that come up to your belly button or high up your tummy. They will put the incision in your bikini line and so you really don’t want normal underwear until your scar is healed. I’d also strongly advise NOT taking floradix or the iron pills the hospital will want to give you but 2 sachets of Spatone every day instead. The pills are so rough on your tummy and it is the worst thing post section. Take your nicest bath and shower products into hospital for that first post birth shower. As for baby, things I found indispensable for all my five were a sheepskin rug and also, while not very aesthetic, black and white baby toys and images are fantastic for stimulating baby’s vision and keeping them engaged. Don’t try and push it too hard post section either, even if you feel ok. Give husband a blankie with baby’s smell on that he can take home to the doggy and make sure to give doggy lots of positive attention to make sure he doesn’t get jealous. Good luck. Hope you are not tasked with Christmas dinner this year xxx

Out of curiosity, was there a specific reason you went for c section instead of natural birth? My husband and I are planning to have a baby next year.
@blondpidge
@blondpidge Жыл бұрын
@@mv829 I had sections because like Aime my baby was transverse. Then I wasn’t allowed a VBAC (vaginal birth after cesarian because the next baby wasn’t lying correctly). After 2 c sections the doctors are reluctant to allow natural birth. It’s not something Aime has actively chosen, it’s what is safest in her particular situation.

I was exactly the same way, they thought I was measuring small, but it turned out my baby was larger than average 😅, thankfully she ended up weighing a bit less than what the ultrasounds read

After 33 hours of labor, I wanted a natural delivery, but was flexible if necessary of course. At hour 27 I had my epidural and in the end I ended up with a C/S. I’m 4’10 and my daughter was 7lbs 3oz at birth which for a woman my size is large plus she was my first baby. I’m still happy with my experience my doctors did allow me to labor. I didn’t feel forced into my C/S because I was given adequate time for me to deliver vaginally. This was 3 years ago. No matter how your baby gets here it’s a great miracle.

The most positive part of a scheduled c-section is that you won't go through labor so you'll be well-rested so you will recover better. I've had 2 and the scheduled one was much easier.

The C-section is in professional hands, just make sure if you feel nauseous after the anesthesia that you mention it quickly so they can deal with it and you won’t miss anything! The hard part is the recovery, I won’t sugar coat it because I wish someone had prepared me, it’s painful ,so get all the help you can get and rent an industrial breast pump, very important!

C section is fine. Maybe better than hours of labour and TMI but hemorrhoids from pushing can be horrendous. I've had section and normal vaginal and I preferred the section. Your mom will help when you get home I'm sure!! Oh and baby won't care if the nursery isn't totally finished!!
