Thanks heaps for this upload :) This was my favourite match of 2024 - was great seeing Djokovic win the one title that was missing in his trophy cabinet and you can just see how much it meant to him when he finally slammed that last forehand winner down the line. Before the match, I thought Alcaraz was going to win in straights as he is the reigning RG champion and also because he destroyed Djokovic in the WImbledon final (which was 3 weeks prior to this match). Glad that Djokovic proved me wrong and he has achieved the career Golden Slam

By winning Olympics Gold in his last attempt and at 37 years, Novak made more major milestones : He became the oldest player to win Olympics Gold. He does this in finals with a 16 year age difference. He also becomes the first player to win Olympics Gold without losing a set. He navigates a very tricky and tough draw beating Nadal, Koepfer, Tstispas, Musetti and Alcaraz. This Gold is very precious to Novak and equivalent to two slams. In the process, he competes Tennis being the only human to do so and further cements his legacy as the indisputable GOAT.

Everything was in favour of Alcaraz. His favourite surface vs Novak's worst. Defending RG and Wimbledon champion. Convincingly beaten novak 3 weeks back at Wimbledon finals. Knee surgery for novak. Alcaraz had his weapons firing - drop shot working like a charm and +1 forehand as well. Lastly age gap. But still Novak managed to win! @ultramarinechaplain883 күн бұрын
I am a die hard fed fan who will always say fed is the goat, but i have to hand it to novak, when its all said and done, he is the deserved goat. Not just statistically, but any way you argue, wether its h2h or gs won, you really cannot argue with his achievements. Unless alcaraz goes on to win like 30gs but even then, the fact that novak did what he did against rafa and fed is phenomenal
@fwvw70567 сағат бұрын
You can actually argue with it. 2021 and 2023 no competition (and Federer or Nadal absent). 2014-2016 Nadal was barely there and Federer was inventing how to play tennis way beyond 30. Novak chased hares his entire career and in all sports it is easier to chase goals that are known to be attainable than to venture into the unknown and undone for a years after one could easily retire with an all time great career.

No he wouldn't and Djokovic will never win a match against Sinner again. The latter is just better now in all aspects and not afraid of him for one bit. In 2024 it took Novak 8 sets to even create a breakpoint opportunity. Not break, a break opportunity! There aren't many matches that no breakpoint was created by one of the players anyway, so let that sink in.
