I've not tried impressioning a lock because of the costs involved for the kits, I like how you think out of the box, nice one Roy 👍;-)
@roysammons24454 ай бұрын
If you've got a dimple lock with spare keys just grind off the bitting and use that as your impressioning blade. Costco baking foil folded 4 times is about equal to impressioning foil. That's the cheap way to do it. About £10 would buy a basic kit. I live outside the box 😂

My inspiration for this tool was to be able to make kits up for my edc giveaways. They are very easy to make and not expensive at all. Cheap and cheerful as some say. This wasn't going to be the video for this week but it's a pre cursor for something in the pipeline 😉

Nice nd easy that's how we like it. Although sometimes there's victory in adversity but that's another conversation. Two pieces of 2mm plastic with chamfered edges, stick it together and bingo, a tool to make foils. I did make a few metal versions but it was time consuming and time is something I don't seem to have in abundance 😂 Cheers Tinnie, all the very best to you my dear friend and also to all that are yours 😉

@@roysammons2445 I'm currently trying to, but the problem I immediately saw were the passive Pins on the top, can't possibly cut the key thin enough to make it not trigger one of them
@christian721414 ай бұрын
Other than that even with bumping it feels like the cylinder wants to turn, but guess the passive Pins prevent it
@christian721414 ай бұрын
@@roysammons2445 quick update, the IX 10 is actually dumpable, it works extremely well as soon as I figured it out. Not so much luck with the foil tho, it rips too easily. Do you have a recommendation on foils u used?
@roysammons24454 ай бұрын
@@christian72141Sometimes you can cut a blank down to a thin strip. You massy be able to foil open slightly and then insert the thin key cut from a blank which my gold back the passive pins from fitting. Just a thought.

Not sure the keyway on that Dom, I wonder if any of the three basic blades would fit the keyway. Alternatively if you have spare keys you could sacrifice a key to make into a blank blade. 🙂👍

Great stuff Roy, I'm going to have a shot at this over the next couple of days assuming I can get some foil, what thickness am I looking for?
@roysammons24454 ай бұрын
According to the Chinese sites it's 0.05mm I think. I'll double check and get back to confirm. I know that Costco baking foil folded 4 times is just about right too. EDIT: * The silver foil is 0.05mm * The gold foil is 0.06mm According to Wish.

Thank you for this video, I've been wondering how to make the foils since I got my kit. Have you tried using kitchen foil, I suspect it's to thin?
@roysammons24455 ай бұрын
The only foil I have found to work is foil from Costco as it's thick. I fold it four times and it seems to work well then. Buying the actual foil from one of the Chinese sites isn't that bad as the foil will make quite a lot strips. At some point I'm going to do a video on it.

I love this. I have been wanting to try this ever since the first time seeing you do this a few months back. Question when you made the slot in the key. Did you need to make it a certain size? Or just need to cut out the key bitting. Also what do you use to make that cut or grove on those pieces of plastic? Hopefully thees question makes sense lol. Great video Roy really cool.
@roysammons24455 ай бұрын
I just take off the existing key bitting on the key. The foil then sits in the groove. As for this tool I took two thin pieces of plastic, chamfered along the edge of both pieces with a file. Then I glued them together. Sometimes you might also need to drag the tip of a small file down the channel after sticking the two pieces of plastic together to slightly widen the channel. Alternatively one piece of plastic can be used and cut a groove down the edge but I think this way with two pieces is actually much easier to do. I also made a couple out of a metal bar but it's a lot of effort with a dremmel tool to cut that groove. Go on Rook give it a go 😉
