This will forever be one of my all time favorite videos

I had the privilege to drive these 1994 Flxible Suburban Metro D as a bus operator for NJ Transit. They unfortunately got retired before their time by the crappy NABI. I still miss them so dearly and dream about them every now and then. While the lean is a wonderful thing to experience, one had to be careful not to do it on an almost empty tank of fuel, it will shut down the engine because the lines with fill with air and no fuel will pass. My bus had to be towed twice because of this reason while doing the lean on a sharp curve.

MDT's Flxible Metros used to lean really nicely like this too. It was strangely comforting when seated, it kinda just felt like you inexplicably got lighter for a moment. While standing, it was super weird.
@knightclassic12 жыл бұрын
Its why MDT and Broward BCT kept ordering them for almost 10 years, they loved them.

@@knightclassic1 Should've kept it going, it's sad to see all the videos of people riding flxibles, yet I never got to ride one myself.

I love these Buses. I wish they make them in O scale. I have them in Road Champs in HO scale. The prototype I had pleasure of riding them on New Jersey Transit after riding them on New York City MTA Bus. 🙂 video is a A+.

Cleveland had about 600 Flxible metros on the streets in the 80's to 90's the bus drivers used to say before making a right or left turn, "Lets Lean" this bus and the passengers would start clapping the Ohio lean since Flxible buses were built in Ohio, right in the Columbus metro area.
@josephw12582 жыл бұрын
When Chicago Transit Authority (CTA) used to run these buses, I would take family and friends from out of town to the downtown area. I would make it a point to ride these Flxible Metros with them on routes that I knew would need to make turns. Scared the #2 out of them. I would be giggling my behind off. They never saw the lean coming.

Wendyfans : The Wendy Williams Experience Flexible bought back all flexibles from tge MTA due to the cracked A frame problem and sold them back fixed to agencies like NJ Transit. I don’t know why commentor “sonic57053” it’s making such a big deal out of it though. I don’t even know for sure the facts on that Whether it applies to all of them nj got.

The Grumman 870 bus was one of two advanced-design buses (the other being the Rapid Transit Series (RTS II) developed by rival General Motors and later taken by MTS).[3] Both models were compromises by the Urban Mass Transit Administration (UMTA), which sought to develop a "Transbus" design that would be "attractive, roomy, comfortable", en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Flxible_Metro
