They all look good to me, But I still like my 71 better than the 94, it just feels good, I really do enjoy these videos where you compare calibers

I desperately want a 71. Just bought 100 rounds new (NOS) Winchester brass for $125 including shipping. Now all I need is dies, bullets and a half decent rifle that I can afford.😊

Thanks for the great content!! Just picked up a Winchester xtr in 375 win. Got it on trade for around 1k, rifle came with 100 rounds of factory ammo. I hunt with a 30-06 but I’m really liking this near extinct cartridge. Probably use it for bear/lion and possibly deer gun.

Some good groups. Love the 94. I’m loading my new 38-55 to about 1875 with a 250 grain cast. I’d like to pick up a 200 grain mold for it as well. Enjoyed the vid👍🏻

Yes the 1894 handles like a wand. I'm also fond of your model 71. Those two are my favorites. One big plus with the 375win is that cases are easily made fire forming 30-30 cases and I've got lots of once fired 30-30 brass.

My 375 Winchesters are Marlins. I have found re7 as much as can fit, drives a 220g bullet quite well. 250cast is fun too!

For you guys who've loaded a bunch for the .375W, Ken Waters' favorite RE7 load is 2gr higher than the max loads I'm seeing printed. He didn't specify, but I'm guessing he used the thinner Winchester brass and newer data accounts for the thicker starline brass? I haven't loaded for it yet. But my Vollmer 255gr bullets will be here next week. Hoping to push them out at around 1900-ish.

@north61, I don't own the 375 Win but wish I did. But how does the 375 Win, 444 Marlin and the 450 BM does on big game like moose, elk etc ?
@brianlapointe53042 жыл бұрын
Yes, I agree great video. I to have a Marlin 375 which is 375 win. That shoots very well at 100 yards. My favorite is a T/C Contender Rifle in 375 Winchester with a 20 in barrel. Very accurate with 230 grain hard cast bullets, 1 and half at 100 yards with my old eye. Only thing is it has a Leupold scope on it. Great video again. Thanks so much great info.

Why not use a marlin 375 instead of the top eject 94? I will admit the win 94 in 375 is very light and handy. With the Marlin 375 you can mount a scope which help in low light conditions although the 356win (the rimmed 358) is my favorite in the win 94 big bore era. In top eject levers I prefer the 1895 in 405 or the best Winchester ever made; the model 71. Thanks for all the videos.

The only Marlin 375 I came across didn't shoot well...probably just luck of the draw. It also weighed 1/2 pound more. The whole idea behind the 94 in 375 is lightness and handiness. The open sights lean into this strength. I have lots of rifles with scopes. This little fellow doesn't need one! The next generation of Big Bores were angle eject but weighed as much as a Marlin with the heavier barrel on the 307 and 356. I just love this one as is!

Do you cast? I've got an old original winchester made bullet mould and I'm pretty sure it's for the 38-55. It's heavy enough for a dandy 375 win load. Now I need a 375 win

North61 Do you have any experience with the Rem 7600 carbine in 35 Whelen in cold weather. It has an 18 1/2 inch barrel and a composite stock. I think it would be excellent Moose and bear defense IF it's reliable in cold weather. Keep the videos coming there great.

I know you have tested the 444 Marlin cartridge. Some people on the forums think the 444 Marlin adequate for grizzly bear. I think it's a poor choice. I'd like your opinion. I have a 340 and 375 Weatherby Magnums and the 358 Norma which you speak highly of. I know these are perfectly adequate but I can't see the 444 Marlin as a good Grizzly rifle.
@north612 жыл бұрын
Not a fan of Hard Cast lead bullets and the jacketed bullet weight in the 444 is a bit light for caliber. It's all up to bullet choice and I haven't used one enough to speak with authority.

Greg, thanks for your reply. I have to agree with you even though I've had no experience on grizzly bear.

I Still Want to Pick up A 375 B.B. and Rechamber it for 375 JDJ or a Modified Version called 375 JDJ Long Neck That Excells With Cast Bullets. Kind of a Cross of 35 Lever Power & 375 jdj, Loaded with a 250 - 280gr. LBT- LFN-GC over Hodgdon Levererevalution ? Powder never can remember how to spell it. If I Ever end up with Just To Much Money Rebarrel it to Look Like a Winchester 64 ( have Three of Them ) Baby 71's My Favorite Was Made in 38. The Difference Between It and the Chubby girl made in 41 is unreal. Post War There Just Plain FAT !!! My Browning 71 carbine in 348 A.I. I Shaved The Stock Down To Look And Feel Like That 1938, and Traided a Local Machinest to Put The Browning 1886 Carrier & Hook in that 71, Like What's in My other 71 in .450 Alaskan. If Your Sierious That Modification Is Mandatory. That Was One Of The Reasons The Original Winchester 1886's Were So Dependable, and When Browning ReIntroduced The 1886 They Mostly Fathfully Copyed The Originals. Including The Carrier and Hook, but Twards the End of Winchesters production of The 71 They Were Making Shortcuts to cut down on Manafacturing Costs, and That Was One of The Items That's When Howard Johnson Was Converting 71 To .450 if they Had The Late Production Carrier He Converted them Back. So When Browning Reintroduced The 71's They Used The Last Version of The Blueprints Not Knowing Any Better.

At one point I had two 71's an early one that was tapped for a side mounted scope and my later one. I kept the later one as it shot groups less than half the size as the oder one. Wish I'd looked at the carriers.
@ronaldmasterbud1551 Жыл бұрын
@@north61 You Can Swap Carriers, """ BUT """ There is A Very Small amount of Machining That Needs to Be Done to The Lever. And if You Have A Real Gunsmith Up There, Which I Would Imagine that You Do. It's A Simple Job. Duplicate the Hole & Pocket for The Hook on the Lever, Swap Out The Carrier. You could even Decide to A.I. @ The Same Time, That Would Give you The Speed That you Want with those 250 gr. Bullets. And if you Ever Decide you Want to Play With. 375 Whelen Ackley Improved I'll Lend you a Reamer. That Round Has Impressed Me Beyond Belief, I Still Haven't Found It's Upper Limits Yet. But in All Honesty it's A Twin of The 9.3×62 mm, Just the Yankee Doodle Dandy Version of It, Which Automatically Makes it Superior.
