They do make most of their locks look something special, then again so do Master Lock. This lock normally opens with two passes through the core but it seems it was a bit camera shy.

That bit about locksmiths finding it difficult to pick, is a bold statement. But Hey maybe they do, and you're just a better picker then the average locksmith 🤔 I do like the keys that come with it. Have a good one my friend 👍🏻

It's always the case, looks great, got good size but it just doesn't perform. It does feel really sturdy but even that I feel its a bit of acon. I put a Mercury 45 on a little garden shed and it didn't take long to be difficult to open with the key and the top cover came loose. Cheers Mur-Lock68 😉👍

I normally get the lock open in two passes through the core, it must have been camera shy. As for the lock having 4 pins, yes that is really bad, such a beefy chunky lock and they only put 4 pins in it....shameful!!!

I don’t know how long Squire has been making pin tumbler locks vs Lever locks. Perhaps they are still perfecting them. It is indeed a beefy lock and solid. You did not seem to have a lot of difficulty picking this one. Great job as usual, Roy. P.S. I got a visions back in my left eye after see the doctor. 👁️👍🦊

Key looks great, lock looks great, it's nice and beefy but sadly the core is lacking as its the problem with the Mercury 45 series. I had one of those moments where the lock went camera shy because normally two passes through the core and it's open. It's good news about your eye Jack, I bet you almost feel like a new man.... and may the rest of your issues improve. Getting old sucks!!!!!!

There's so much lock to put 5 pins but no, they stick a 4 pin core in there 🤦🏻‍♂️ I guess more interested in sales and high profit rather than giving the customer the security they are paying for. They do look pretty amazing though.

I think squire have been taking lessons from Master and focusing on physical security (and wild marketing claims) rather than the core which kind of makes sense given that most attacks are physical rather than picking, both of the heavy squires I have don't have security pins and apart from oversetting there's little to stop you getting them open , this didn't look like it had security pins, does it rake Roy?

It's one of those that you might just get lucky with a rake. I agree to be fair the most common attack will be a physical attack and it does seem to be quite strong. No sign of security pins in afraid. You hit the nail on the head as Master lock are strong but with weak cores just like these Squires. These locks do look rather smart though 😉

I don't even think they are great outdoor locks. I used one at work and it seized quite quick and the top cover came loose. I got it much quicker off camera so unfortunately the camera vices it far to much justice. They do look like great locks though 😉 And as for the claims on their website..... 💥
