Oh no! You just put an idea into my head that I had never thought of...buy a place like that as a permanent vacation apartment. On our 2022 trip to Italia we spent just a little over $5,500 on accommodations for a total of 25 nights. No going through the nightmare of Italian bureaucracy to get residency...just have a place that would pay for itself in seven to ten years. And if we wanted to go through the hassle we could rent out our Maui house while we were in Italia ... which would probably cover our travel expenses. And it's not like we'd be stealing a home from an Italian or driving up housing prices as is the case almost everywhere in the USA. Mamma mia. Now when my nightly insomnia kicks in I'll be mulling this over and over and over. Grazie, I think? And what a great concept getting on a short flight or hopping on a train to go to a different country for few days. I know living on Maui is wonderful but it is darn far from everywhere.

So many cheap houses in the US even below 10k. So in the UK the problem is that they are in ugly places.

Aloha- I wish everyone would stop worrying about stealing a house from someone here looking for a place to live. There is sooooo much real estate here for sale. Even here in Tuscany where I live I see houses that have been on the market for years. Vacant houses that just sit vacant. There is no shortage of places to buy here. It’s just finding the right place for you.

Those radiant heaters are very good. Splits can heat too. AC is more important than heat these days. Our interior temp at our house reached 32° last summer. That’s 90°F. We need to get AC installed.

Hello to you both, Could you PLEASE look for some properties that have a garden with that have a place to grow food and if they have fruit trees and or vines all the better. Also walk in ready and affordable. 👍❤️
