Having the bed lifted is genius. I’ve watched like 4 vids on this tank install and everyone went under the truck and scratched/dented the new tank. Definitely gonna take the bed off my truck for this🤙🏽

Thanks! I highly recommend doing the install without the bed in the way, it made the job a ton easier!

I've been wanting to do this tank upgrade for my 7.5L 1996 F350, and I'm thrilled to hear this tank fits (since Amazon says it doesn't). Do you think my project will be slightly simpler since I have a gasser as opposed to diesel? I will likely hire a shop to do the work since I don't trust my skills
@part-time4wdАй бұрын
I think so. The tank itself is a direct swap, the only challenging part is modifying the hangar for the fuel pump and level sensor. The kit comes with everything you need to modify it, with the only exception being the float arm. Unless I'm mistaken, the level sensor should go down with the pump, so it should read correctly without having to modify it like you have to for the diesel trucks. So really, it shouldn't be that much more work than just replacing the tank.

Is there a sending unit and pump made specifically for that tank you could have used? Is there a skid plate available? Where will you put the spare? Looks like a great project! Thanks for posting.

Thanks! Spectra made this tank as an upgrade for the gas powered trucks, which is why they included those pieces of copper tubing. They don't offer a sending unit for it. I suppose maybe you could modify a bronco unit since the bronco tanks are deeper, but it wouldn't work for a diesel. They don't offer a skid plate for it either; I know some F-series got one, and I think it would fit as the bottom of the tank doesn't look any different, but it's a rare option to find one. My truck didn't have the under bed spare carrier so the tire has always been in the bed. I modified the original spare tire mount that the AL bed came with to accept the 35" tire.

Actually Bronco graveyard doe sell a complete kit with skid plate but for over $600 it seems a bit pricey.
@part-time4wd2 ай бұрын
Yes and no. They sell a couple different kits but theyre all for the 33 gallon tanks for broncos. They do sell the 38 gallon F-series tanks, but not as a complete kit.

Did you never put the vent valve in?
@part-time4wd7 ай бұрын
Yeah, I reused the large rollover valve that the diesel trucks get

what size tire and wheels set up you got there they look cool ?? please reply.good day
@part-time4wd7 ай бұрын
The tires are old 35" BFG A/T KOs. Probably 8 years old; they were just replaced a couple weeks ago (youll see in the next video that gets posted to the channel). The wheels are Ultra En4cers. 20 years old at this point, and unfortunately were discontinued a long time ago.

where did you get the bottom straps???
@part-time4wd8 ай бұрын
Those are the straps from the original tank. You just lower them down with the extended length bolts and pipes.

Did the fuel float from the bronco register on the fuel guage properly? If so what year bronco did you get the float from? Thank you in advance for your help
@part-time4wd3 ай бұрын
So yes, but technically no. The sending unit has the same resistance values so it would work, but the tabs that hold it to the sending unit's frame are in different places so they don't interchange. That's why I reused the F-series sending unit with the bronco float arm. The float arm I used was I think for a '90, but 87-97 should all be the same. Depending on how soon you will be doing the upgrade to your truck, in the next couple weeks I am building another sending unit for a buddy's truck, and was planning on doing a video on just the modifications to the sending unit.

Where did you get the kit from?
@part-time4wd10 ай бұрын
I ordered the tank from Amazon, and the bag of parts came in the box with the tank. It's advertised as 'does not fit', but I presume that's simply because you have to modify your fuel pump hangar. Obviously it fit the truck just fine. Link to the tank: Spectra Premium Spectra Industrial Fuel Tank F26E a.co/d/6aFOk8J
