Today's interview is really special - we had to move from the usual Moscow studios to the interiors of a hotel in Bulgaria to film it, so that the guest in the 38th episode of #TalksAboutGymnastics was a real legend - Neshka Robeva!
Among the professionals in rhythmic gymnastics her name needs no introduction, but the general public you need to know that:
- She was one of the founders of the legendary Bulgarian school of gymnastics and headed the national team for a whole quarter of a century (1975-2000).
- in Bulgaria her gymnasts, with a total of 14 individual and group championship titles, 14 European championship titles, 5 World and European Cups and two Olympic vice-championships, are proudly called «златните момичета» (Golden Girls).
- She was a role model for many famous coaches, including the Russian national team's head coach Irina Viner-Usmanova.
Are you impressed? We were also very impressed by this interview!
From this episode you will find out:
- The legendary coach's opinion on modern judging system and CoP
- How a twenty-year-old dancer got into rhythmic gymnastics
- What principles established by the Bulgarian school is still defended by I.A. Viner-Usmanova
- How thorny was the coaching path of Neshka Robeva
- Will Neshka Robeva return to her coaching career
Many thanks to Neshka for talking to us about gymnastics!
