Sehr gut erklärt, also ich habe mittlerweile schon mehrere tausend Ketten in meiner alten Firma damit geschärft.

I've used CBN wheels over 10 years now. If I get a chain that's in bad shape to where I have to take more than a few hairs off it overheats and leaves a nasty burr just like this video shows and it sucks. I just bought the stihl sharpener and will find out soon how good these wheels are. Im thinking the problem with these CBN wheels are too fine of grit and slower removal which over heats the metal

@@donjohnson9013 o nice! I'd be curious to hear how you like this grinder and wheels once ya give it a try!

I did get the hedge trimmer attachment and liked the way the supplied grinding wheel performed but will let you know once i use it on chains. The sharpener i used before was the tecomic jolly?. The.tooth stopper was pretty unstable and innacurate. I too wasted $100 or more for each CBN wheel and I have 3.

Great video! I'm going to find a dealer that can order this grinder. Probably close to thousand dollars in Canada.

I bought the cbn wheel as you and had the same issue, I didnt even get through the whole chain before it became unusable. Email them about your issue, they sent me new ones that work a lot better.

I did and they sent me a new wheel but it's doing the same thing. I'm gonna return the cbn wheels if I can and just stick with the factory Stihl wheels

Maybe I’m missing something but I always thought that a burr after sharpening was normal, and was just the chrome plating on the steel curling up. In fact, I always took a burr as a sign that I was getting the job done. When hand filing I knock the burr off with the wooden file handle, both on the top plate and in the gullet. Is the fact that the CBN wheel produces a burr a sign that it is removing more material? As for the blueing, I understood that CBN wheels are not supposed to generate as much heat so something is wrong there. In Europe people seem to go for the CBN wheels from Baltic Abrasives in Lithuania. They get good reviews, but are not cheap, and if the Stihl wheels are so good i think I’ll stick with them.

I would agree that a very small burr that comes off easily like is created with a fresh hand file is good. Unfortunately the burr left from these cbn wheels is massive and dose not just brush off. I need to make another video because I did buy a Baltic abrasive cbn wheel and it performs exactly as the one in this video. I've watched all the videos I can find in KZbin and it other people don't show the chain up close. But there is one video of a guy sharping a milling chain with a Baltic abrasive wheel and even from a fair distance away you can see the huge burr it leaves just like in my video here. I do need to make a video about the 3 cbn wheels I have now, but I just haven't gotten to it yet. But in short I'd say stick with the factory Stihl wheels they way outperform anything else I've tried so long as they are clean and dressed. Im pissed at myself that I wasted so much money on the cbn wheels. They suck in my opinion.

Checking with local Stihl dealers. Can’t find one online. Is the circular saw blade adapter available somewhere? What exactly do you need for the hedge trimmer adapter? Thanks.
@tdm88178 ай бұрын
Everything should be available thru your local Stihl dealer, I don't have the hedge trimmer attachment but I'd imagine buying the kit would include everything you would need for it. Stihl is usually good about including everything needed

I ask my local stihl dealer in the USA it isn’t showing available guess I will have to go with the Oregon 620-120 grinder

In my opinion don't waste your money on a Oregon, if your local Stihl dealer can't get one that's crazy but find one else where, call around to other dealers on buy one online

I think your problem is you are taking far to much off the tooth, when using a hand file it would take ages to take of the amount you are grinding. Also there are different bonding of the CBN, you seem to have a resin bonded wheel which collects dirt/oil, hence the the need for a cleaning stone. Electro plated wheels (really the best option for chains) does not have this issue so these wheels do not need a cleaning stone. Also there is no need to have a different thickness CBN wheel, CBN wheels are available in exactly the same size as ALOxide wheels.
