Hey Jim ! Great video on testing the starter switch , & what gauge wire to use also You are correct about having more terminals to turn the lights on , When I rewired my 1959 Massey-Ferguson , & put in a new starter switch I did notice the terminal for lights ! I've got get me one of those test meters I've been putting it off for no reason . I did see your video on doing wood framing with that device where you could do any size frame , & I'm glad You Like the RC Cola & found the Moon pies ! Next time I go to store I'll have to get me some Moon pies I haven't had one of those in quite awhile ! Thank You for the video , & Snappout.& yes it was called a Dubby.

Hi Jim another good video. I'm an old electronics tech so I do have a comment about your test method. You should really read the resistance of those tests instead of relying on the beeper. Most meters will beep if the resistance is less than about 25 ohms. A good switch contact should read less than 1 ohm. For instance if the "B" to "S" terminals have 20 ohms across them that might reduce the voltage/current to the solenoid enough to keep it from activating. I don't know the actual resistance of the solenoid but it could be 20 ohms or less meaning it would only see about 6 volts instead of 12. I've learned a lot about my snapper from you, keep them coming.

Thanks for the info I guess I’m gonna have to check into that I just try to use a simple way of checking that most people may have one of the cheaper meters. Jim

Dude you got your soda! This is actually a super helpful video.if you have apart the wiring area on some of these, it would be great to do some in depth wiring videos. Both my snappers someone tampered with the wiring and the manual was only partial helpful and I only found a few photos or videos of what it looks like inside the box but it seems like they changed it every few years. I think you covered some of this in past videos but it may have been a newer or older model.

Jim, my switch has three connections that mate to the wiring harness plug. In addition, it has a ground connection, with a green wire that runs to the motor base bolt for grounding. I cannot find a switch like this, nor can my local snapper dealer. do you know if I must use the ground wire ? My dealer's OEM/Snapper system, using my model #, confirms a three connecition switch only. Thanks.

Hi Jim apologies but being French I did not get what the web site is to get the scheme of the 3 wire contactor. In fact I had an issue and needed to dismantle one some 2 years ago but now I get into it ... guess what not sure how to check my connection before I make a start as a test. Please get me me right your English is just awesome but mine is from the other side of the Atlantic the you saved some 75 years ago 😉

@jimjackson9381 Жыл бұрын
If you check in your ignition switches, you have to set your meter on the Continuity setting. Jim.

Hi Jim, I don't know what happened to my subscription but I got your site back! I know from past conversations with you that you have a place to buy parts from. Can you please let me know what they're site is? I have a very old snapper with the 8 horse motor, and I need a new clutch for it. The whole thing, I think I need the drive disk to. I lost one of the set screws and have a bolt in its place. Please I hope you can help. Thank you Lance

Hi again, I can't tell you why but every time I try to go to the website I get lending tree, lol. Like I told you I have a very old mower and it has the 1in shaft and I need a new clutch and drive disk. I bought a new drive disk from Amazon but it is too big and I can't drill out the thing like you did. I have medical issues that limit me but I ain't giving up on my old mower. Can I use a smoth clutch on this thing? I just wondering if it has the brake thing that is the only brake it has. Any help would be greatly appreciated 🙏 thanks for all the help you've provided to me over the past few years!!

@@lancejohnson208 hey Lance it’s Jim Can you send me some pictures of what you’re dealing with the drive disk is the disk on the bottom of your engine and I believe I might have one what is wrong with yours usually nothing goes wrong with them and the clutch disc is the disc on the side of the chain case and the clutch disc assembly is the complete unit that bolts to the side of your chain case with a large nut in the center of the four small ones, let me know what’s going on buddy.
