Thanks Matt. Should have it "finished" for the next update if all goes to plan.

The detail just keeps getting better on that shed James. The smoke vents are a stroke of genius and I’ll certainly be logging it for the eventual shed build on Galgorm Hall. That bridge is also coming along nicely. Like the shed, much of that underside detail will be invisible to the viewer but you will know it’s there. Jack arches would have looked the business spanning those steel supports but possibly not suitable with the design you’ve gone with. Great update. Paul

Thanks Paul. Looking forward to seeing what you do with your shed mate. Yea, got a few bits you'll not really see unless you know to look for them but my thought is you often see great layouts photographed in magazines etc and there's always something missing or incomplete somewhere in the photo. I'd like to have someone look over a photo of this (when complete) and actually say "yep, that all looks about right to me". With the bridge I've started building the framework the road surface will sit on. Hoping to get it in situ for next months update.

Nice work on the bridge ... and plenty of detail on that shed ... Dave

Cheers David. Don't know how you manage to build your layouts seemingly so quickly mate. I've been at the bridge a month now and its not done. What's your secret?

JAMES DEMU I don’t do many scratch builds these days ... and of course on re builds I have already got all the buildings etc

Nice to see how just a little bit of mount board can easily represent part of an extractor system. Very nicely done. The bridge looks good so far, I am not sure how it looks under the one at Loughborough as when I am there I havn't usually thought about looking up at that detail.. Something that I should really get pictures of etc for when I need to start working on stuff like that!

Thanks Michael. Its surprising how versatile card can be as a modelling material. Its going to be used as a road surface, paving, back scene mount and walling on this layout. I've spent a long time looking up images of railway bridges and almost no one takes a photo of the underside. Its one of those details that most ignore but when viewing a model from track level its painfully obvious that a smooth surface isn't right but its not obvious what it should look like.

Hi James The bridge looks great, awkward thought with the bendy resin. Sheds coming on now and the extractors add another level of detail not often seen. Cheers Paul

Thanks Paul. Yea, bit of a did getting the resin straight but worth it in the end (I hope). I keep going back to photos and seeing what should be in there (the shed) and it's almost endless. Really is surprising how much stuff there should be on a shed layout.

I'm very confused as to why the combination of 38F and Kirkby in Ashfield. The black and white picture looks more like Annesley.
@JAMESDEMU-RailwayModeller3 жыл бұрын
Quite simple. I decided to make a model of a "could have been" and the next denomination that wasn't used in Nottinghamshire was F so my shed would have to be 38F. The title screen is actually Leicester shed. I used a few old images of sheds I took inspiration from as the layout build wasn't far enough along at the time to capture what I'd done in a single image. More recent updates only feature images of the actual model.
