This is simply the best explanation of the layout electrics on KZbin. Detailed, calm and superbly captured. This is going to be an enormous help as I continue to build my layout through the next weeks and months. Superb channel, thank you.

Mckinley Railway. David, In 1960 The late W.S.Norris wanted a similar detection system on his own layout but they were going to be using big telephone relay's and custom build components from scratch, no computer to help. The late Don Rowlands layout was all built around freight operation with exchange sidings with loco's to and from loco shed. The years he was modelling was after 2nd World War to just before British Rail was formed. Nice work. Cheers, Chris Perry.

A very informative video which gives credit to your teams efforts, this truly is becoming one of the UK's most extensive, complex and probably the most technically leading layout. Nice to hear you are developing new products and techniques that will help serve the modelling community. What's more it has an operational purpose and is giving so many pleasure in creating it and for us here at home (but either don't have the resources or access to a club/ group) watching it develop - thank you. I can see later on you could run it where Companies are trading goods and taking revenues from passenger traffic and you can now track the success or failures of such, just as happens in real life - all hypothetical of course!

I am really in awe at the size of this project! Have been following all the progress and cannot begin to imagine the costs involved.... Well done, what a brilliant concept you have, I realise that things develop from a small beings but the time machine has been huge from the start, how you've planned and wired the layout is something to dream about you and your team are inspiring and inspired keep up the good work I look forward to seeing it running.

Have been following the progress with great interest the last year - what a mindblowing project! With all you clever and dedicated guys participating I'm sure you already have put the fire hazard on to your agenda, but in case of.... Just a hint, with all that wood and carpentry, electricity, dust (!?) and other things present - anything else would be unthinkable. Better safe than sorry! Looking forward to your next release! 🇸🇪🇸🇪🇸🇪

Absolutely love the layout and finding about the digital and computer control side of the layout! Has made me rethink my layout so I can include digitrax and signatrak! Hoping to crest similar station control panels so I can include full computer control at a later date!!

Watches the whole video and ten swallows hard and thinks utterly amazing David. This is without doubt going in the annuls of history as one of the all time great layouts. If ever required, could it be dismantled and moved? Cheers, Bob

Wow, you listen to your subscribers. We asked for longer detailed videos and we got them... Those large scale drawings looked impressive, could they be made available as a download from the website as it was difficult to see what you were referring to in the video (Charlies fault, should have shot some B roll and drooped it over the top :-) )? Really impressed with the progress and can't wait for the next video

Goodness me! No wonder you've called it Sheffield; you've done Tinsley proud. One thing strikes me - the sorting sidings seem rather short. Will they extend further around the curves onto the next boards?

Interesting! I hope that it all goes well. Why electromagnets rather than servo mounted permanent magnets for uncouplers, may I ask?

Wow! I have no words! One thing I will mention is that if you ever call in an electrician who has a fetish for wiring, he will think he has died and gone to heaven. Lol.

Love the Mckinley Railway! I have few questions in mind. 1. Is this whole layout runs on DC or DCC? 2. is this only Hobby or do you have visitors also? 3. what is the total layout size?rooms? 4. why do you have spiral going from the floor to the layout level? 5. what is the role of Chadwick? 6. do you have auto pilot or manual operations? 7. what sensor you use for train detection? RFID? IR? any video on this will be great! and at last thanks for the great work so far would love to see you all working on it. and giving us your valuable knowledge.

Have a look through the channel most of the info can be found in various videos, even some of the first videos go into detail explaining what runs original McKinley and the newer videos show pretty much all the addittions.

Good day to David and the team! Great work as always, can you give us any more information and cost for RFI system. Please can you give us more information on this on how this will connection, to Digitrax? Or is it completely different software? Where and what equipment is needed? Can you please, make this available to us? Looking forward to your reply and your very next video....when you can. Many thanks, Dylan

Does your amazing layout have its own power supply separate from the house supply?.
@rdrhouse3 жыл бұрын
One observation that may be useful for you when checking connections with continuity buzzers. Most meters will give you continuity and buzz with a resistance of up to 150 ohms, which could be enough to hide a fault. It's better practice to set the meter to the lowest ohms value and read the meter to see how close to zero you are. PS. keep up the great work.

There 8 platforms at Sheffield
@dattouk3 жыл бұрын
Hmm. on our railway I count 4 - 8 would take up too much space. Bear in mind we are not building a station, but a goods yard.
