Excellent video. Short and to the point. No stupid background music or verbosity with the English language, but a concise experience you encountered with the hf saw. I wish more video's were presented like yours!! Thank you.

I noticed you didn't set the blade depth. I usually set it about 1/4 inch over thickness of material. You'll get smoother cuts with less kick-back. It's less strain on the saw also. Thanks for the video sir.

Thanks for the video but it would have been nice if you told us up front that you had broken the saw already before I sat through the whole thing.

you compare a broken saw with a good one?? no DUH!?

Well, I have used allot of harbor freight tools and they work fine for me. I haven't had any issues, and I built a deck with a saw just like that. However, you never mentioned the amperage of the motor. A larger motor will handle a larger load. That's what happened to your saw. If that other saw is a 12 or 13 amp saw and the HF saw is a 10 amp, then you really can't compare them. As well, I don't know anywhere that sells a circular saw made by Skill. I know there are some Ryobi 13 amp saws out there for $39. Sorry guy, you need to be fair. We all aren't big spenders like yourself, driving new pick up trucks. But you need to be fair when you compare.

LOL, Love the comment about the paperwork. Glad I watched. need an extra circular saw in addition to my Bosch which is great,just a little large for getting in the tight places I need it for nowadays.. Won't be buying HF one. I recently bought a Rockwell mini saw. Had great reviews except a few which stated they couldn't cut a straight line. Sure enough the one I purchased would not achieve a straight cut even using a straight edge. It had a hard tendency to vere left. Looking at worx mini saw now.

Yeah, registration form my hind quarters. It's a marketing survey which they use to gather as many specifics about you as they can, typically including your email address, age, income, own/rent, married/single, what marketing strategy attracted your attention, and similar data. It works for both their general market demographic research as well as trying to sell you more stuff, all under the guise of being able to advise you about recalls and the (totally unnecessary) registration of your warranty. And they probably sell the "hot" prospect addresses to other marketing outfits. Ah, the life of an American Consumer. ~ Thanks for the interesting demo; I like Harbor Freight, but with limited expectations. My purchasing philosophy became, as experience and income provided, to always purchase quality tools and quality furniture and appliances. But I still have to stay out of Harbor Freight because I just can't resist shiny things.

+Gene Rybarczyk I wouldn't even mind if they just used the marketing info themselves, but I am positive they sell it. For a while, I would use different variations on my name when filling out such forms, like clock-work, ads with those names would start showing up at my home a month or so later, not just from whomever I'd given the name to. One time, for first name, I combined my name with my wife's first name, and received junk mail addressed to that name for about 7 years.

+Turftechutah - Good approach. I did something similar now and again to discover which vendors were selling me out. Nowadays, though, unless a company touts its privacy policy, I figure I'm just another data line on a marketer's e-list. Fortunately, there's a recycle barrel very close to my apartment's mail box.

I have a circular saw made by a company named American Lincoln my father bought it in the 60's he used it alot after he passed away I got it and have used it my entire life and that damn thing cuts like it did the day my dad got it all those years ago. Not sure who American Lincoln was but I bet they when belly up due to the fact that once you bought one of their products you never needed to replace it.
@generybarczyk69939 жыл бұрын
+ogbobbye - The American Tool Company was a Division of American Lincoln of Toledo, Ohio, where I grew up. Over the years it morphed and divested with American Lincoln ending its century of operation in the early 2000s as a manufacturer of floor-cleaning machines. It was bought out by a rival Danish multi-national and I'm not sure if any of its brand name is still sold. However, at this writing, there are two American Model 600 6½ inch circular saws for sale on eBay one for $58, the other for $500. Go figure.
@ogbobbye9 жыл бұрын
thank you for that info mine is a 6 1/2 inch too hard to find blades sometimes but it is worth looking for them cause I love that saw. I have a 7 1/4 inch skil as well but only use it if I need that extra depth. BTW I live in Northwood just outside of Toledo had no idea that saw was made here even more special to me now.

I'm pretty sure that by law the only proof of warranty you need is your receipt. those forms are just so they can make money by selling or using your info.
@1pcfred8 жыл бұрын
It might have been more informative if you actually took the broken saw apart on a workbench, and not the target range. So we could see what the failure mode was. But useful information was obviously not the intent of this video.

*>>>**ur2.pl/818** This is a quality Saw that does the job very nicely in place of a larger handheld circular saw. I've used it mainly on pine boards, but it seems like it would have ample power to cut through most any kind of harder woods. The only issue that I had is that it doesn't seem to follow a gate very well and the blade binds a little bit from time to time. It works best as a freehand tool that you can use to follow pre-marked lines... I would recommend!*

You know all tools have a life time guarantee. All you have to do is go buy a new tool that is broke. Then put your broken tool in the new box and return to store.

Harbor crap Drill Master trash i got a skil saw 5150 blows that hf away and it's 10 amp it's not 100% about the amp its also about the torque involved sometimes Low amp gives you more precise cuts and will not burn the motor out what model skill saw you got ? I don't need to know the model number of the Drill Master to be fair you should should have put it up against Bauer or if they had in Chicago left because they just continue to that line mine still beats the Chicago I haven't had anyone that has a bauer to test mine against both awesome its old it was handed down to me so it's been loved and used and mine is made in the US it has a sticker on the top I think all the new skill saws are made in China it's not about how much amperage it has it's has to do with quality of the motor my understanding is American made products have better Motors even German made power tools
@josephbohme79177 жыл бұрын
Nice echo from the concrete when you talk down to it.Please..... Say what quality model blade you are demonstrating-- # 1 reason you have crap or gem of a saw. Blade it came with....ehhh! No one can expect a demo from that junk blade. Regarding your 4 mo. BROKEN saw I would send it back to the mfg. W/O a RMA (RETURN MCHD. AUTHORIZATION) HAVING a means of shipping [proof] method USPO /UPS anyhow I'd trump up a letter about what happened and that the assumption on your part that you have been screws by a bad product and would they stand behind it and fix/return/replace- Since you would like to endorse them rather then bad mouth them on youtube etc..
