Such a cheesy soundtrack for the "Greatest Round Ever!" I am even featured in this video along with my two daughters as "Extras" around 33 seconds in. :) We didn't even get an appearance fee! McBeast makes a couple million a year and we are still stuck with this horrible soundtrack and 80's style video quality. :) Just kidding. Sort of. :)

This round was rated 1132 and still is the highest rated round ever eight years later. To give some context of how amazing that is, the -18 Paul McBeth shot at 2018 DGLO was an 1108 rated round.
@TheGullibleSkeptic3 жыл бұрын
I appreciate the stats. I was wondering the same thing about the round ratings. Although this course has a fair amount of OB, which will bring an awesome round to an even higher rating. The point being the the DGLO round is more impressive, despite it having a lower rating.

I don't give a rat's ass about the rating. Paul's 2018 DGLO is the best round of disc ever shot.

Absolutely amazing, especially all the putts made under insane pressure. To anybody who thinks this is not much of an achievement, you go ahead and try to birdie all but 3 of the holes of the pro layout during the 4th round of the Memorial, on a card with some of the world's best players. You do that, and you are welcome to put whatever music you want on the video.
@doktarr8 жыл бұрын
He birdied all but 1. There were 2 par 4's. The missed put was the only non-birdie.

It is one thing to play the first 9 holes quite well and shoot say an 8 under.... even on an easier course an 8 under.... hitting the shots 8 out of 9 times is quite difficult. Now play the back 9.... keeping the focus.... knowing you're really tearing it up. Many people would lose the focus... the pressure of keeping it going until the last hole builds and builds. Paul McBeth withstood his own internal demons and pushed through even until the last hole. Fountain Hills is no picnic in the park... there is a very good amount of OB right near the baskets along with falling slopes directly into water. He made it look easy... the sign of a Top Pro and an amazing achievement.

Advice for future Disc Golf cameramen: if you zoom hard without following the drive, and wave the camera around, looking for the disc, you're incompetent. Great round Paul!
@LexJoeHome10 жыл бұрын
"Advice for future...cameramen". What? Where's the advice? All I see is you complaining. And I just read a comment you posted on a video of David Wiggins Jr., and it's the same shit. You're complaining about something camera-related. Since, according to this comment, you don't know what advice is, I'll give an example. Advice for Chris Davies: Quit being a hater and a bitch. Stop complaining so much and try to post something positive for once. ("Great round Paul!" doesn't count) And lastly, look up the definition for the word "advice".

McBeth's performance reminds me of Robert Duval's ball golf analysis in Seven Days In Utopia. Duval observes the the would-be golf star's swing and chides him for allowing his focus to move from the hole with his back swing, saying "a golf shot is always in front of you; It's never behind you." Similarly, disc golfers tend to send their mental state back with their reach back away from the focal point. What I see in Paul McBeth is a golfer who plays out front; every shot is in front of him.

The difficulty on this course is the ob combined with fast greens. There is ob bordering the green on almost every hole and the lack of grass around the pin makes it hard to keep the disc close. its also not nearly as short as it looks here. 18, for example, is 440' and mcbeth throws a teebird on a rope to 15' making it look easy

Kelly Park, McCook NE, we get people who play mainly tight, technical wooded courses come here and assume that because we have several wide open shots that it will be a cinch. Until they play it, the course has 30 to 40ft elevation changes , abundant woods and wind that can seem like it's blowing in three directions at once. My first round played here i shot in the high 80's, I avg +3 and just shot -3 last week, and thats playing 4 to 6 rounds a week for over 2yrs. It's never as easy as it looks

The info on DGCR is not going to be accurate for the layout they played at Fountain Hills for the Memorial. It's altered for the event. ex: Hole #1 is well over 400ft teeing from a temp tee for the event. Same deal for the Shelly Sharpe Course at Vista del Camino park (the other course that is used for the Memorial). Also, here was nearly zero wind for this round, which is rare for fountain hills.

What an incredible round. This would be an even better video with some good music. I wonder what McBeth thinks is a harder course: Fountain HIlls or Maple Hill? Personally, I think his 51 on the Maple Hill golds is more impressive even though it's rated ~40 points lower. I've never played Fountain, but I don't feel that a course that allows you to throw a hyzer shot on 17 of the 18 tees is a good overall test of DG skill. Not taking anything away from him though, that was sick.
