I read that 18 of the original 39 tigers are still alive. Most of them are considered elderly now. I am glad these magnificent animals have a chance to live out their days with dignity, quality of life and care. Bravo, PAWS!

I used to live near there and, way back when during the Colton Fire down in the wash, me and a friend went down there to try and see if we couldn't help with getting the tigers calmed. The gate was locked and several other people were there as well, but no one was answering the phone calls and you could hear the tigers in the background as the fire came closer. Finally one guy came out, waved, and went back into the trailer up front. Thank the deity of your choice that the fire trucks managed to get the fire put out before it got into the compound. Thank you PAWS, for giving these majestic creatures the home they deserve!

I was one of the many volunteers who went out to Colton after CA Fish & Wildlife took over. I was only there a few days, and Linda Miles' comment describes a lot of what I recall. Looking back, it seemed like every corner you turned was bad news for one animal or another. The unsuitable enclosures made for unsafe conditions for people, too. Feeding the wild cats was pretty intense. Things had to be timed so that each cat in the same space was fed simultaneously to avoid fights. Trying to jam a big piece of chicken with tongs through gaps in the fencing could be tricky with big hungry tigers eyeballing you. Colton is a hot miserable place in summer, and that compound was a big ugly patch of dirt and crumbling concrete. I give kudos to the people who were out there many days doing the dirty work, including Chuck Traisi, who spent, I believe, 21 months dealing with this big, sad mess. Happy to see these tigers in a better place.

Sadly, many are better off here. I support a wild cat sanctuary in S.A. but, I have also witnessed a baby Elephant doused in gasoline and lit on fire with her mother chasing after her to put her put on video!!! It was taped in India. And Bengal Tigers in tiny cages in China, waiting to be cut open to remove organs for medicine. Sure the majority of wild cats in captivity are in the Middle East as pets, seconded by can hunting areas. And last by those who think they are helping only to realize they have gotten themselves in way too deep.

i really do not know any god like that. that "created" adapted beings. from something. nothing was created for mindless "enjoyment". IT WAS NOT CREATED FOR US, i would think. we are all a part of one whole. i believe every living thing is equal to every other living thing. i believe in that GOD or whatever you want to call it. i like your empathy and i join you in that. thank you for caring. i hope you continue to do so.

THANK YOU PAWS!!! Though I MUST ADD.... please know that the volunteers DID give all of these Tigers names when they were being cared for at that horrible "Tiger Rescue" place. For the two years while waiting for a proper sanctuary volunteers worked very hard most of the time in over 100 degree weather, to do the best they could for these beautiful creatures. They were not able to do all the wonderful things PAWS has done and is still doing. They loved, cherished, and did all they possibly could in the situation these volunteers were all in. But all these wonderful Tigers did have names and some received cool different name or some stayed the same names when they arrived at PAWS.

It's a shame that these agencies have to be FORCED to take action in the meantime the Tigers' health continued to deteriorate. They let them suffer for years before taking action and look at all the Tigers that died while waiting for someone with the legal power needed to change their lives. PAWS your work is so important. Giving these beautiful proud amazing Bengal tigers a good life for the time they have left is so uplifting. Thank you from the bottom of my heart for all you do. I love the Tigers but my soft spot is the elephants. I watch and share your videos of those elephants' joy of just being elephants all the time. To others who watch PAWS videos please share, the more people that know about REAL SANCTUARIES, more money will be raised, the more people will work to make ownership of wild animals illegal, and the more people keeping these animals as 'pets' or as performers hopefully will be educated that what they are doing to these animals is just damn wrong.

Because the laws regulating big cat ownership are weak and rarely enforced. The newest money-making scheme is tiger cub-petting operations, a cruel use of exhausted, helpless cubs allowed by the USDA. The shows are set up in shabby roadside facilities just off interstate highways, often with inadequate fencing and big signs to bring in tourists. The cubs are ripped away from their mothers at birth and bottle-fed to get them accustomed to being handled by humans, who pay $20 for the chance to have their photo taken holding a baby tiger. The only way to stop this kind of exploitation and abuse of big cats and other exotic animals is to TAKE THE PROFIT OUT OF IT! We need to educate the public about the cruelty that comes with forcing wild animals to perform and tolerate petting. We need to convince people to stop supporting businesses that profit off using these magnificent animals for “entertainment”. We need to show the public why forcing big cats into circuses is wrong and ask them not to buy tickets or support them. That includes refusing to attend performances at places that exploit animals. For example, Circus World in Baraboo, Wisconsin has hired Ryan Easley, owner of ShowMe Tigers, a traveling circus act, to force the tigers to perform in the summer of 2020. Easley buys some of his big cats from Kevin Antle, owner of Myrtle Beach Safari, Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, where visitors are allowed to pet tiger cubs taken from their mothers at birth. Easley “trains” the tigers “through the violent use of whips and sticks (video at kzbin.info/www/bejne/oImwq3-ah6yMe5Y), forcing to perform tricks that could lead to physical ailments,” according to an HSUS investigation. What goes on behind the scenes is horrific. These wonderful animals are mentally and physically broken by years of vicious abuse, all in the name of profit by greedy, heartless “owners”. The abuse will stop only when they can't make money off breeding and exhibiting the big cats!

They appreciate you more than you will ever know. There also needs to be a law that if/when someone gets unfortunately attacked while being around these animals that no one can "put the animal down", if you are not familiar with the risk, leave them in the jungle. Don't blame them for being what they are! Remember they've already got a life sentence behind a cage for no reason.
