Not fit for us never mind elephants that are from Africa. What wonderful things Mr.Barker did before he left this earth. God must be there well pleased with his son. So thankful! Elephants should never be in zoos or any other forced elephant slavery! They need freedom and close interaction with other elephants. Their brains ( problem solving area) and feeling areas are even much larger than ours. If you see a elephant pacing or holding its tail - it has suffered major emotional trauma from isolation and cement or metal enclosures for probably decades. I have gotten involved in stopping zoos no longer using elephants to attract humans for mostly greed and our shallow need for entertainment. You can take safe lead safari trips and see them where they belong- in the wild!!💝 For ones that have been in captivity for way to long-'sanctuaries are as close to heaven loke this one, here for them. Praying for all elephants worldwide to be FINALLY be free. God's most amazing, complex and magnificant creatures. He gave them to us to take care of and protect- watch out over, not enslave. Pray for them all and for wildlife rangers in Africa and other places that risk their lives to protect them from greedy and evil people who murder them for their ivory horns. They need our prayers for they are gentle plant eaters sharing this planet and only want to be left alone in peace with their babies and other adults- usually groups of females together. Very protective of the babies and each other. God bless what they have worked hard to do in this video. Amen.

Desire Love oops. I didn't mean "elegant." Last year when I did it, you book on advance and I think it costs $300. They held them once every few months. It starts at 8 or 9 AM, and they give you a tour of the various elephant areas and talk about each of them and where they're from, etc. It included lunch, which was delicious. And the coolest part for me was when they did a demonstration of protected contact, which is a procedure for how they and a lot of other sanctuaries interact with elephants and do vet care, etc. The other coolest part is that the co-founder gives the tour and he was amazing.

"What's the biggest difference? Behaviourally, what's the litmus test when they come here?" "Well, when they lie down & sleep is a big one" That really got to me. I watch a lot of elephant rescue videos and some I have followed long term (Elephant Nature Park has documented some amazing elephant rescues). The difference in their body language from before their rescue to even a few months later is incredible. And yes, sometimes, laying down to sleep peacefully is a first for these creatures. These elephants have come from zoos, which although are far from ideal, are nothing like those that are still in incredibly abusive situations, such as some of those is Thailand.

My family owns a zoo in Ontario. One time we imported a moose and her baby. Unfortunately the sedative wore off too soon and when they opened the crate she was shipped in, she ran directly into a wall out of front and died. The mom was so distraught she stopped eating and essentially committed suicide. I mean… The emotions are comparable of a Shakespeare play. Except… This is real. Money suck, protect our natural world! It’s long term value is incomprehensible more valuable than short term gains from corrupt bankers and manipulators.

While this was an excellent, well thought out, well organized journey, my question is - how did they elephants get to the zoo in the first place? If they weren't born in captivity, then were they originally transported in a crate? Don't get me wrong, I love the care that was taken to transport these animals to a better place. I'm just wondering if they got to the zoo in a crate in the first place and how they did then?
@rebeculus4 жыл бұрын
Chele I don't know about these elephants specifically, but many elephants in North American zoos that weren't born in captivity were likely bought from countries in Africa or Asia as babies - so, separated from their mom when they were still nursing probably (since they often nurse till they're like 4-5) and taken to a zoo. I don't know if any zoos in North America do that anymore, but Zimbabwe has sold tens of baby elephants to China in recent years, for zoos. Heartbreaking, because female elephants spend their whole lives with their mom and sisters and aunts, etc. And all elephants have life long relationships with each other. So they're basically traumatized when taken as upping elephants from their family.
