This lock may not be much in the way of size but it makes up for that in pick resistance due to the spring loaded disc stack and butterfly discs.
They do require special tools and quite a bit of experience to pick.

Ball point pen bodies for the spacers! I had seen LPL's video about the spacers and wondered what I could DIY-thanks for coming up for the answer there! Always love learning something new.

Yes, ball point pen tubes work great and you could actually use different colored pens for each size.

Yes, it does add to the pick resistance but obviously not a great deal. Just causes more friction.

@@AlbertLebel Im just starting to learn have not had an open yet but im also trying a kryptonite kryptolok series2 bike u lock that was given to me and i think my problem is the round cylinder body of the lock and keeping the pick lined up and also that i might have to tension on a different disk then the front disk! but when i get some different disk locks that will be vary helpful

Great video i have not long started on my DD journey & em enjoying it so far i have Chinesum DD lock that i can pick it blind folded & an Abloy 330 that one is not giving me anything yet. I have just gotten my Sparrows DD Pick as yet i have not trashed the tip yet but its only a matter of time before it happens, i do also have a Chinesum pick which i have changed the tip to an ejector pin which feels much better, now i just need to make up & change the tip on the Sparrows pick, one lock that i di have is the Abloy 330 that i have been trying to pick but to date i have had no luck with it yet.

Thanks for checking it out. Just keep practicing. I recommend getting a couple Kryptonite locks to play with. If that Abloy is a Protec you will never get it with the tools you have. The Protec has a fork that runs down through the discs preventing rotation by pick tools and their internal shape is VERY unique. If you can disassemble it, do so and you will see what I mean. Their high tech. I have a few and I been working on a tool to defeat it but I'm not quite there yet

Nice bit of picking Al. Good idea on the spacers too. I was finally able to get my hands on a Sparrows DD pick. I haven’t tried it out yet since all I’ve got for DD locks are a couple cheap Chinese locks that are horribly made with thin disks and plastic spacers. So any suggestions on a good DD lock for a noobie DD picker would be appreciated.

Thank you very much. It took me a LONG time to get to this level on DD locks. I would recommend getting a Kryptonite to learn on. Their affordable and fairly easy to pick. The problem you will have is the Sparrows tool only allows tension from the front so if the front disc is not a zero you will have to learn the counter rotation trick also. Meaning sett all the discs, then use the pick tip to tension and counter rotate the tension fork until that disc sets

You made that looks easy. I've only picked cheap Chinese DD's, not sure what a butterfly disk is.

LOTS of practice. The butterfly discs have a unique internal shape somewhat like butterfly wings. They make picking a bit harder.

Ya these are very tricky to pick. Try find any disc your sure is a zero. Set as many as you can then use that zero for tension and try set the butterfly. And yes, I found heavy tension will keep unwanted discs from turning.

When reassembling, where do I put the two small metal balls that came out? Do I just throw them back in or do you need to place them in a specific place? Thanks! I'm new to lock picking so I'm not sure. Great video btw:)

I just put them in the same hole where the screw was going to be and hoped for the best, still works but no idea if I did right lol

Yes, if need be, you can use a small tad of grease to make them stay put until you can get the core back in but thats it. Very straight forward.

No such thing as a naive question in my book. On these Abus Plus I do both. Start of using front disc or disc behind spinner. Once you feel everything else is set, use the pick tip on any zero disc so you can counter rotate the disc you first used to tension. Hope this makes sense.

@@itsallinhow your welcome. Yes, quality locks are smooth. Just take slow, one disc at a time and feel the gates. Tight ones are false, loose ones are true gates. Practice, practice and more practice.
