I like that they wrote Ste in a realistic way here - of course he would get what was going on. And I like that he gave Brendan the only ultimatum that would actually work. I get Brendan's anger though.

I love that Brendan said "I don't think you're stupid" to Ste, it might be a detail but I feel like it's really important
@greymushroom112 жыл бұрын
I just love the talk they had, I think it is testament to Brendan if he can overcome the darkness that plagues him and Ste being the reminder and challenging him to do better. For Ste if he can really be strong enough to pull through or to let go. He is willing to bear through this, he has seen some of the worse of Brendan but while his dad is there it is slowly re rooting back all those demons. I cna only hope the best for them.
@georgiagcd12 жыл бұрын
It is important. Ste is used to people thinking of him as stupid because he is dyslexic. Ste has a pretty low self-esteem, hearing that from Brendan must mean the world to Ste.
@davislaverne12 жыл бұрын
As the story stands Ste has not returned to an abusive relationship he has returned to a former abuser. It is a semantic difference, but a significant one. The significant difference being Brendan is no longer abusive to Ste. A difference I think the writers are trying to convey. I think they feel it is an acceptable distinction to make and story to tell in this instance because Ste is a former abuser himself.

I'm happy with Stendan so far, but I don't think you have to be on the "right side" to watch and comment.

LOL. I didn't know there were any unbiased viewers. I was a Doug & Ste fan, and now I'm happy so far with Stendan. Most telling is that Ste never even seems to think about Doug.

Not for me, but I understand you. I do understand and as I expressed earlier, I will go back when it's something I need. I've worked with a lot of these people and their children. I am not disputing you just expressing my weakness.

you're right. I understand that stendan aren't everyone cup of tea because there will always be something dark there due to their personal stories but there are a lot of people that like them for that so why can't the others just get over it? it's just a tv drama and has no relation with how we live our lives or the values we teach to our kids

Dear lord, Joel. It's quite possible that Brendan would've calmed down in a day or two, realize that Seamus was never Joel's problem and it was unfair to involve him and give him the money - or he could've at least gone to Ste for help or threaten to tell Cheryl/Seamus, which would've pissed Brendan off but he might have respected itas a manipulator himself - but *no* he comes up with the genius idea to rob Brendan, because his last attempt at being a criminal went so swimmingly. And with Bart of all people as an accomplice.

so with the "want to finish me off" and the freakish "still good at keeping secrets"; Seamus obviously suspects Brendan, are we gonna have the reverse situation with Seamus plotting some kind of revenge too ?

Not to state the obvious, but this is a soap. It is not a documentary or self help show. Soap operas are not meant to be a guide or moral compass to how we should live our lives. People that would view it as such have problems that extend far beyond what they watch on television.

To all people who said Ste shouldn't get back to BB, his 'abuser' then I suggest u all just throw yourself into the river. Yes BB did abused Ste but was in the past. Don't u see BB is trying very hard to stop doing all that. It's hard to change in a split second. That's why Ste is willing to help because he knows that deep down inside BB is a good person. Plus BB is willing to change for Ste. So open your eyes people!

Well, brendan has to leave on way or another. I agree, that is what I love about their relationship too and that they are talking. I am not only referin to being conflicted, i think we all knew this would be a conflict and you are makin sense and I get it, trust me. I am referin to we all know the spoiler by now, so it's Brendan demons or his love for Ste can be enough to overcome that has always been the issue as well. if any other way, his last words seems foreshadowing.

you're wrong if you think you can judge a person who returns to his ex abuser. if the abuser is no long an abuser then it's not our place to judge their decisions. this story is exactly about that so I don't find it reprehensible at all. moreover the crucial point is this is a soap, murders and violence are all reprehensible but they still can portray them and have some license in doing so because this is a fictional tv program

the writers aren't our moral compass and the fact that some people think like that is pretty worrying imo anyway even the writers waited for brendan to change in regards of the dv before putting s&b togheter again,the last punch,while I agree it was unecessary,it has be put in contest and we can do so because it is a soap, in rl it is never justified but in this case it showed that b was ready to keep ste away and he knew that was the only way because even if doug never beat s, s didn't love him
@giuventino112 жыл бұрын
b never tried to do that lol what show did you watch?even the actors said they are the love of each other lives so get over it. why can't you just accept that brendan don't beat ste anymore? that ste waited months witnessing his change before he decided to come back to him?that they can truly understand each other because of the similar upbringing? it seems you didn't get the story properly.it's a good story, really and for a lot of reasons for that but I can't use my time to name them sorry

The problem with blackmailing Brendan is Seamus might take revenge on both Brenden and Joel or both might end up in prison. To blackmail someone, the consequences of telling have to hurt the blackmailed but not the blackmailer. Also, where's the proof?

I am not a troll who cannot be swayed by sound reasoning. I concede that although I may not agree with or like the path the writers of this show have taken, the storyline does make for excellent drama the likes of which is never seen on American soaps. However, domestic violence in all forms, fictional or not, is utterly reprehensible and it is never okay for a person to return to an abusive relationship. Tell me I'm wrong.
@terreythomas982912 жыл бұрын
Why do people who find this show immoral, irresponsible and reprehensive continue to watch it? If you feel that strongly about it then just don't tune in, it's as simple as that.

Mate, you irritate me..BB has always been your favourite character??? Really??? Because -you don't get him at all and generally you proved to know nothing about your (**coughs**) favourite character. Otherwise you'd know that threatening Amy was a bluff on his part. And let me tell you something - soap is to ENJOY THE DRAMA, not to teach me a lesson. Perhaps you doubt that Stendan fans are able to distinguish evil from good, but that's your problem, not mine.
@greymushroom112 жыл бұрын

I get you but I've met entirely too many of him in my rl so I skip over him when I can. If he does or says something that I can't get anywhere else but I need for the progression of story, then I will catch up ONLY on that. Some fictions are easier to cope with than others. I avoid books about parental abusers as well.
@alwaysuseless12 жыл бұрын
Did Joel sign over his half of the club to Brendan? I don't think you give someone 200,000 without a signature. If Joel no longer owns half the club, then Brendan needs to tear up the transfer of ownership or pay a fair price (less than 200,000 since that tacitly included knocking off Seamus).

get back to Stug videos and stay happy, alright...why would you even bother to follow BB storyline if you're evidently NOT his fan??? give us a break...I don't like Stug, for example, but I have never comment on Stug videos negatively because I just did NOT watch them unless there were bits in BB videos
@davislaverne12 жыл бұрын
I question that BB is your favorite as your description of him only involves the words "violent murderous maniac". If "Doug never beat Ste" is the best endorsement you can give their relationship then that's just sad. Soaps have not now or ever been tasked with having to be socially responsible. Anyone that thinks that soaps somehow are providing a blueprint for how they should live their life has problems that go far beyond what can be solved by a soap being socially responsible.
@alwaysuseless12 жыл бұрын
Me too.

@FeedmeJUice but ste already knows about brendan doing that?!
@Tony_Hardy12 жыл бұрын
A few points: 1) BB has always been my favorite character 2) I never really thought that Ste and Doug were a match made in heaven, but at least Doug never beat on Ste. 3) It is socially irresponsible of the writers to say that it is okay for anyone to go back to their abuser. Just a few weeks ago Brendan punched Ste in the face, I suppose to prove that he loved him. Would you stay with a man that every so often punched you in the face to show you how much he cares? I don't think so.

I would suggest you stay away from viewing a show that makes you sick. If you have a life outside of the show it's not worth it. I find it hilarious that you are reacting as if this is not a television show. I would hope that you had learned to tell fiction from reality. Also, to be fair Brendan never beat Ste within an inch of his life, however Ste did beat Brendan to within an inch of his. Not that I hope to change your mind, but it only helps your argument to know what you are talking about.
