OMG!! I am 67 years old. I started turning only a few years ago watching many channels like yours. Blown away!! This is the first time I’ve seen someone -without any fanfare- reverse the rotation and cut “backwards” because it makes sense. Great job!!!

its a great way to do your hollowing so long as you are careful and you tighten the set screw on the chuck. a catch can cause the chuck to walk loose.... Thanks for watching. welcome to the channel!

Cool looking wood. GREAT drill! I wish I had a reversing lathe, makes bowls easier. Mine is a 12"Commodore, I have to swing the whole thing 90 deg to get in there. It works though. Nice vid.
@ZombieWoodturner
@ZombieWoodturner Ай бұрын
yeah reversing is a huge positive. especially doing hollow forms. that said, I turned a lot of things on my old harbor freight special with no speed control and no reverse. but yea...nice tools are nice!

Beautiful bowl need to find some pistachio wood. Sorry if this was asked but were you hollowing with the lathe in reverse. if so have you had any problems with the chuck coming loose. Also could you please tell me what laser engraver you are using.
@ZombieWoodturner
@ZombieWoodturner Ай бұрын
yes I was turning in reverse. I find it makes hollowing much easier because of the angle. I wont say that there is NO risk of the chuck coming loose. there are two ways to avoid that. 1) make sure you tighten the set screw on the chuck if your chuck has one (which i lazily almost never tighten) and 2) don't get any catches. lol
