Always learn something from your videos. Good point on the auto tune or Mtronic saws not running right with no load. I was watching a channel on KZbin where a guy was using a 261cm for use shaving wood when building a log cabin and it ran lean and burned up. Guess they are not really made for that. I had to reset mine one day as well when I was just using it to trim branches off grapple bucket loads to fit down a tight trail. Lots of quick starts and stop. After a while it wouldn’t even idle. I’m definitely keeping some old school carb saws around

I’ve heard ppl say they like the 394 over the 395, whats the difference? Has anyone ran them side by side with timed cuts?
@richardflagg30847 ай бұрын
Short answer is the 394 is a pre-EPA saw. Better muffler and factory port work. The 395's have a more restrictive muffler and quad upper transfer ports that give it better power in the higher range but lack the grunt of a dual upper design.

Hey Richard, I have two questions about the autotune/mtronic/fuel injected stuff: 1- How do they adjust themselves? I mean is there little solenoids in the carbs? 2- What are your thoughts on the 500i? As far as the fuel injection is concerned? I'm curious why there isn't more saws using the injection from Stihl, or Husky for that matter. It's been about 2 years now or so, if it's good tech then why haven't we seen other injected saws? Thank you.
@richardflagg30847 ай бұрын
MT and AT saws are designed to get the max RPM without going over a certain heat limit. Same as a screw carburetor, leaning out a saw too far will reduce power as does too rich of a tune. It adds or reduces fuel and can make small timing advance/retard to keep the saw within a temp range when running. The 500i's I've worked on have been very reliable given the amount of electronics it has. I think the fuel injection components are expensive and keeps them out of the rest of the line up. I wouldn't be suprized to see the replacement for the 661 be fuel injected.
@Randpage7 ай бұрын
@@richardflagg3084 I'm also interested in how they meter the fuel mechanically. I'd love to have one of those autotune carbs apart to see how they work internally.

Just swap out the new carb with an older one that fits, I’m sure they didn’t redesign the whole thing for that would be more money than most companies are willing to spend most always go the cheapest route

Stihl 066 and 660 could handle more work and abuse but the old Hq where stong! Shame the brake handle only had 1 screw to hold it.

@@richardflagg3084 ive seen your red eye in a video. I have several myself. One of them is a ks cylinder with the exhaust mirrored and an unlimited coil mod. Then i have a orginal red eye and to be honest the coil really doesn’t make a difference in my opinion.

Kyle Cromp u prefer ur red eye over that 94 cuz the big bore 95 u have is poo poo and u don’t have a long bar and u don’t have no big timber and u ain’t ran a OEM 395 or 394 . Sir u can’t prefer or not prefer what you’ve never ran ? I own 100% OEM nice excellent running examples of all 3 and I have cut thousands and thousands of board feet of giant hardwood and 395/394 will drag that 66 thru the mud and forget it’s back there . Put a 36 on ur 66 and hide it all day son and don’t worry bout gettin footage of it cuz u won’t be wanting to show it brother . Let’s not base an opinion on a legend from a blind ported Chinese big bore and zero run time on a genuine 395 it’s gonna be a silly one every single time brother
