Do you have a child who is not talking? Join pediatric speech-language pathologist Laura Mize, M.S., CCC-SLP of teachmetotalk.com for this podcast for CE credit for therapists. In this course, learn how to use common toys to target increasingly complex imitations and spontaneous utterances in young children with expressive language delays/disorders. You'll receive guidance for choosing activities that I've found to be the most consistently successful and easiest to implement with a wide variety nonverbal to minimally verbal toddlers and preschoolers and their parents. Therapists - get 1 hour of CE credit for $5 for this podcast:

Love your focus on teaching imitation in this way as well as your emphasis on the fact that many children won't be ready for this yet and that we'll need to back up to working on receptive language and social skills in some children's cases...And even on reacting to events in the environment (prelinguistic skill 1) in a few less common cases. We have to meet a child where he or she is and I love that you remind everyone to do that by picking the level where you have a few examples and going with it from there by expanding upon that level as your starting point for therapy.

Please suggest how to teach kids to express the activities they are doing. For example. How to make him express and say that he is playing, jumping, eating etc..

Any activities using the pincer grip are good (thumb and fore finger) sorting beads from one pot to another, threading cotton reels on some cord, playdough, elastic band boards, peg boards, nuts and bolts screwing, popping bubble wrap.. anything that exercises those finger muscles. I created a board of bottle tops super glued onto a wooden board the children loved that. That's just a few ideas I've used it school.
