Taylor Williams Sure Nas isn't the best freestyler but he's not afraid to freestyle and he understands what a real freestyle is. Not to mention Nas has nothing left to prove. Nowadays rappers pass off written's as "freestyles" using Big Daddy Kane's definition (free of style writing) as an excuse to not go off the top when asked to kick a freestyle. Nobody is expecting your freestyles to be as good as your writtens, but it's a necessary skill to be considered a great MC. Just saying why call yourself the best if your're scared to freestyle? That just leaves an opening for another rapper who's not afraid to work hard at a new skill to take your spot.
