The posture! Magnificent! There's NO leaning over of the body on jump takeoff. Sorry, but today's skaters' bodies are almost parallel to ice on takeoff! Not aesthetically pleasant. Sasha was brilliant!!!

I've been rewatching these old competitions from when the US had amazing ladies skaters. I can't help but feel that while yes, Sasha and Michelle were fabulous, Jenny Kirk was always so robbed. I think back then when the spirals were required Jenny didn't have as good a spiral but aside from that and her often lacking footwork, Jenny was SO clutch. So beautiful on the ice, so consistent. Talk about a back that you could iron a shirt on. Anyway, I miss this kind of skating. (And I wish Sasha never added yellow to her Carmen dress.)

the commentator is really annoying!! the triple flip is not double footed and so what if she dont do a triple triple combination, don't look down on double jumps!!!

That dress is so simple (I know it was a practice dress) but it is so perfectly gorgeous and the fit is perfect and the shape of the skirt is wonderful. Some of the dresses I've seen on the women since then are just plain weird. I never saw Sasha in an ugly or unflattering dress for any of her competitions.

This was a fantastic program and probably one of my favorites. (The other being her perfect swan lake performance at the 2004 Marshalls competition with no mistakes.) Her jumps seemed so powerful and high with this particular program and year. Too bad about the hand-down on the final sal, but it was forgivable 🙃

My favorite ice skater of all times too!! She had "it" all, talent, heritage of her ballet-gymnast family.her style is unique, combining mostly the graciousness of ballet And the athletism of a gymnast.and so likeable, great personality, great costumes she designed and using mostly classical music!!! in 2000 she took the world by surprise, at 15, her short program, introducing new techniques. She was a pioneer in iceskating and right into the new millenium. . She should have been all gold, unfortunately in the competitions it was her nerves that betrayed her.
wow, that "@LWAYS A COHEN FAN" banner waved by the red-shirted guy at the end is fantastic...... XD

Other than the hand down on the triple salchow, this was actually one of her better performances. At least she didn't fall throughout the competition like she normally does.

Not even with the repetition could Dick Button see that Sasha's 2Toe after her 3Flip WAS NOT DOUBLEFOOTED! I think whenever any competitor(s) skated equally well or better than Michelle Kwan, he was just not able to take it and criticize their programs trying to find faults! Other than the repeated 3Salchow with a hand touch on the ice, THERE WERE NO OTHER FLAWS IN THIS PROGRAM DICK!!!!

+Incredible Mann i think he meant the triple flip was double footed, not the double toe. He was messing up with his words. He's an old guy. And the triple flip was double footed in that combination
@JimmyZoole8 жыл бұрын

She repeated the 3salchow outside of a combination. She got a deduction for that on the first mark. That’s why Kwan won this night. This was a fantastic skate for her though.
@LORDADONIS355 жыл бұрын
She lost to Michelle Kwan that night because her program was not complete. The problem with Sasha was her always worrying about and obsessing with Michelle's popularity and success instead of concentrating on her own programs. Look at the way she ended her Carmen program--sloppy and incomplete. Even if she had not repeated the jump would have still lost because of the excess moves in her program. Michelle's program was consistant and complete with great flow technique and artistry--That's why she won and received 6.0's in presentation.
@ytyt39225 жыл бұрын
DAMON BROWN-DOBBINS what is your evidence that she was ever obsessing about Michelle’s popularity? And with fans Sasha was every bit as popular. Perhaps more so given Michelle’s legendary arrogance.
@erivera49285 жыл бұрын
@@ytyt3922 michelle was never arrogant. thats #1. Number #2 is that Sasha did express angst in a book about Michelle getting more attention. Remember Marshall's 2005, when they tried that american idol voting crap. Anyways, Michelle skated poorly and Sasha did well. But the audience gave Michelle the win. I think she even put it in a book about that experience. Look, Michelle is an icon of he sport. She earned it. She was and is very much beloved.
@ytyt39225 жыл бұрын
E Rivera Kwan regularly scoffed and made faces at marks she deemed unworthy, as if she was OWED high marks just for being Michelle Kwan. There’s no denying her greatness but she was also gifted many titles and medals. Sasha should rightly have beaten her at 2000 nationals and she should also have beaten Michelle for the bronze at the 2002 Olympics.
@averyfrederick57453 жыл бұрын
Yeah I thought I saw her do the two triple salchows, one she put the hand down but neither were in combination. I'm sure there was a deduction.

Under 6.0, Sasha would have had to skate squeaky clean to be placed first here, since Michelle skated clean. When she put her hand down, it meant she would be second. Michelle also did more a more difficult combo. I do think Sasha deserved all 5.9s on the second mark.

I don't really care how you feel about Kwan, but when you say Cohen was the best, you gotta back it up. Name two long programs that she skated flawlessly in her entire career. Sasha had many remarkable qualities . . . but she had no intestinal fortitude nor the heart of a champion. Her spirals had a high leg extension, but her edges were really shallow.

@WickedProductions100 it does not matter who skated first! remember that judges can always deliberately give a skater lower marks if they want other skaters to win, and that can be done no matter when a skater gets to perform during the whole event. That goes true for any skater, no matter what her last name is, whether Cohen or Kwan or Smith or Brown or White or whatever!
