Male imps have larger, black and white horns and white hair (if they have hair) while female imps have smaller, mostly black horns and black hair. That is a consistent feature of their species that the creators make absolutely sure to follow.

People said that bc they didnt like the tonal whiplash of Western Energy, and the episode that came afterwards has been pretty devicive. But ask ppl for their episodes rankings and you'll notice the majority of people prefer S2 over S1. The problem is that due to the 2 month wait per episode (unless in hiatus), if an episode drops that people dont like, it has more time to simmer before another good one comes in. I think Oops and Mammon has rectified that bc you dont see those sort of comments as much as you used to before. They are some of the best episodes in the entire show (Personally Oops is like, S++)

The fact that the consequences arent imediate doesnt mean there isnt any. Idk where this idea comes from when even in S1 things that seemed to not have consequences/lasting impacg ended up having in the future, depending on the severity either in the bg or directly stated. (Stella hiring Striker, the entirety of Ozzie's putting a dent on the deal, Looloo land being burned down, etc.). A lot of shows do this, specially those with linear stories, idk why people act like the things set up will never come back.

@@gearguts7259 A few examples: - Striker tortures Stolas in Western Energy and they're hinting at the fact that this will have some lasting impact on his relationship with Blitzo. Next episode Stolas is fine, like nothing happened. They had Striker torture him for nothing. - Ozzies ends with quite possibly the saddest scene in the whole show. You may think that Stolas and Blitzo will adrdess this at some point but they don't and in S2EP2 they just act like nothing happened. - The conflict between Blitzo and Fizz seemed like an interesting plotline to explore. They just rushed it in one episode with one apology and a misunderstanding. Not to mention, they acted like Ozzie and Fizz didn't enjoy shaming Stolas and Blitzo in front of a large crowd. Their status as villains is null and void and now they're just "happy gay couple".

Without spoiling future episodes, I do get the vibe that Millie has sort of the same deal as a classic Disney Prince. Very nice, inoffensively good looking, reliable in a fight, and ready to rescue the love interest at the drop of a hat. But also tragically overshadowed by just about everyone else in the main cast just because everyone else are so very extra. On one hand, I like that there is at least one character in the main cast that doesn't have the drama that the others do, so she can fill the role of "token normal person". On the other hand, it's very hard for the token normal person to really shine in a cast full of attention-grabbing Trouble.

This legitametately ticks me off though! I personally adore those token normal characters who just have everything somewhat together amidst their band of misfit counterparts. To me it's an almost essential character dynamic I feel I'd miss if it wasn't included whether it be in a tv show, movie, d&d party, any other form of media etc. I understand to most everyone there's nothing "compelling" about a character with no drama or conflict to speak of but to me that breeds comfort! jfc I'm so tired of every character nowadays needing one of their damn parents dead or a sibling missing! to me it's overdone to death & pretty clique. Obviously where would many great stories be without those written in character flaws, but like c'mon we should really buckle down & stop saying things like "ooh god I wish Millie had any semblance of a personality" JUST BC she's typically overshadowed by Blitzo & Moxie struggling through their day to day lives. Ofc she herself isn't even perfect she suffers in silence! an even more realistic depiction for me. It's actually worth noting & assuming that most ppl find these types of characters entertaining & enthralling to begin with because: they extrovertedly wear their hearts on their sleeves. They are always unapologetically airing their dirty laundry out for the world to bear witness to & usually carry "idgaf" attitudes Blitz is a prime example of this. But imo as compelling as that can be, it's much more common today for people to keep things bottled up & to rarely ever barely show any sign of "hurting inside" which to me describes Millie's character perfectly. She's someone who just wants to love Moxie, be heplful, be a good wife above all else, & make sure she doesn't just brush off accountability onto others, deals with her problems well enough on her own she doesn't need to trouble others. THAT IS COMFORT WRITING to me. That's peak at times. So yeah, it urks to me hell & back (no pun intended I swear) when ppl constantly make digs at characters in media that come off as "mary sue's" simply bc they're not floundering pathetically & all self-depracatedly.

While season one isn't that emotionally settles until the very end, at least every episode feels like the same series where one episode connects to the next. Like with the way season one left off with Blitzø and Stolas, it feels really weird to see them kind of going back to the jokey way they were in episode 6. It just feels like there's too much information missing to feel smooth. Season two for me is, depending on the episode, absolute peak emotional engagement, or so difficult to get invested in that I can't even remember the episode exists until someone mentions one of the few striking moments of that episode. Season one is kind of like that too but the shift from meh to impressive is a lot less jarring.

Episode one opens with him being unable to do the job he's had for A WHILE and nearly getting them all killed by purposely messing up Blitz's shot because he couldn't get over his own hang ups and wouldn't just talk to his friends about it to let them know what was up and avoid issues like that. Most of his and Blitz's relationship is openly expressing their annoyance and shit talking each other. He's an emotionally constipated little freak who has to try really hard to get over himself and work through shit!! That makes him such a good flawed character! Season 2 did such a good job bringing that to a head in a human way one can sympathize with.

Unhealthy harmful behaviors can be a continuous struggle, and people don't always realize toxic tendencies they know they have and do their best to overcome are getting the better of them, because people have their own perspectives and often think about their reasoning first, because we all know there are good reasons and good times to be a jerk, and it can be easy to forget you should USUALLY push that instinct aside when dealing with loved ones.

Something interesting in this video is the introduction of character specific sound ques, or at least them doubling down on them. Blitz has horse noises. Moxie has opossum noises. Verosica's heal sound effects are literally them making high heel knives and using that.

Oh one last thing: S2 is more character-heavy, and for some people, specially those that came here for the original pitch, thats a turnoff. Personally S2 is MUCH better than S1, we go deeper on the character's personalities and their relationships with each other. They make one of the best characters in the entire show a recurrent one, and the emotional stakes are higher. Specially excited for you to meet that character, I have a gut feeling that he'll be your favorite. S1 is also kinda rough? People just remember Ep 5-7 (which are GREAT btw), but Ep 1, 3, 4 and 8 are a bit rough and they were already controversial within the fandom when they dropped. I blame the 2 to 8 months wait (Not implying they should change it though, rushing helps no one)

Just gonna say without spoiling: It takes a bit for the show to have a Millie-focused episode, but in the episode that we get its shown that her being lowkey compared to her husband is either deliberate or they listened to the criticism and implemented it in order to fix it (Which is good btw, I like that they listen to the criticism that matters). We have one comming up soon that focuses on her too as part of the 2024 lineup and I am EXTREMELY excited for it, its one of the crew's favorites and well know when it'll come out in a couple of days!

70% of KZbin "media analysis" sucks. Its cinemasins tier shlop by people who refuse to engage with art as anything but a product. They dont understand the difference between clumsy execution and intended artistic choices, its very exhausting. You get a lot of "telling what happens literally and thats it" or just wildly bad faith takes. Its why I was so excited when Skyen started watching Hazbin. His videos on League were like nothing ive seen on the fandom before, full of insight and knowledge and appreciation for the craft. It really is a gamechanger to be in a community that actually sees animation as art and doesnt just say that for easy retweets.

@@gearguts7259 Hey now, love or hate Cinema Sins, their video on EEAAO is a legitimate masterpiece. I agree with your point in general, though. There are a lot of great retrospective channels, but very few media analysis ones. My personal top recommendation is Moon Channel. Drastically underrated. Super Eyepatch Wolf is my favorite overall, but that one's really well known. Folding Ideas used to be great at it, but that channel has shifted gears away from analysis (which I'm totally cool with)

Seeing how many vids are already in the playlist, some just not available yet, meaning you are close to the relevant episodes and not knowing if anyone told ya this yet. For episode 8 of season 1 there is a little backstory needed that is unrelated to any plot. That episode was stuck in legal limbo for like over a year cause one of the guest stars was in a long drawn out legal battle with producers that caused delays for episode 8 to be released, this is why episode 7 is listed as the finale of the season but then there is still an 8th episode after that, since it was supposed to be two parts. So just know this is the reason there is a massive time gap in upload time between 7 and 8 and maybe possible a sudden quality shift as the episode remained in production a lot longer than any others

54:25 One thing I think is interesting about the Hell backgrounds is that even though Imp City (the HB setting) has to be close to Pentagram City (the HH setting), Imp City backgrounds are so much more desaturated than most of the Hazbin backgrounds. I get why they didn't want HH to have the very bleak concrete vibe in that show, but it works really well in HB. Both because it matches the tone of the IMP office and because it makes the very high-saturation red-and-black characters very visible in the office. It's almost as if the Sinners brought some of the saturation of life with them to Hell, but specifically because they are sinners they came with the very limited palette of aggressive/horny/bloody red.

I'm honestly not sure if S1 had 'just as many' issues. In S1 the show was still growing and finding its footing, but in S2 we had: - 'Western Energy' and a major tonal shift for that antagonist - 'Unhappy Campers' as you mentioned - 'The Full Moon' with an emotionally charged A-plot but a flub on the payoff for two antagonists in the B-plot In addition to the episode-to-episode minor gripes. Compare this with S1, which had one universally dismissed episode (C.H.E.R.U.B.) and the Pilot. (In addition to the episode-to-episode minor gripes.)

So each ring of hell comes with its own native hellborn demon, Imps belong to the ring of Wrath, Succubi/Inccubi belong to Lust, Hellhounds to Gluttony, (Loan)Sharks to Greed, etc. etc. Imps are considered one of the lowest tiers in the hellborn hierarchy, with only Hellhounds ranking below them. It's to such a degree however that Hellhounds, despite being fully sentient individuals, are often considered more of a property than an equal. The Shark demons that try to drug Angel right before Loser Baby are examples of said Loan Sharks!

I'll be the contrarian. Season 2 doesn't shit the bed, i say it's the contrary, S2 to me, UP the narrative SO MUCH. Most people i know that hates S2, hates because they have more inter-personal drama and relations, while losing a lot of the "go to earth kill targets". And to me, it's in my personal opinion, a good direction they took. And that's all i'll say to not spoil. Edit: While watching this episode, i've got running on other tabs with an extension to mute them, with all previous episodes and on my phone. Adblock turned off, and none of them had ads anywhere. Im really looking foward to it, I think the biggest issue with Mills is that she is always attached to Moxxie. Having her hang out with someone else without Moxxie by her side will do her good. Regarding how the fish kaiju relates to the rest of the episode, it's mostly just spectacle, but an overall loose thread compared to the rest of the episode. The pilot is the most extreme example, but Helluva Boss was Spindlehorse's first real big scale production, so there are a lot of growing pains in the early episodes, even if they're in little things like that. I'd say episode 4 is the last episode where it's obvious they're still finding their footing. After that, things tighten up a lot.

32:09 wouldn't be surprised if those were surgery scars, there are a number of trans background characters in the series. I'ts not really a spoiler, but i give a warning anyway: AMAB imps usually have white hair, bigger horns with big black and white stripes, while AFAB imps have black hair, smaller horns with thicker black and thinner white stripes. If you keep that in mind you can spot trans characters in the background!
