That's not crazy at all. Stranger Things was a new IP, while F13 is a beloved classic franchise. The 2009 movie was $20 million for an hour and a half movie. This show would have been around 9 or 10 million for each 1 hour episode in today's money. That's not bad at all. This budget means they would have taken it seriously and given us a cinema-quality show. By comparison, House Of The Dragon is $20 million per episode. A24 were just being cheap and don't really believe in the franchise.

@@WallofJohn Game Of Thrones still had a higher budget per episode when it started and that brand did not have the clout of Friday The 13th. Fuller and co. probably wanted to elevate Friday The 13th into something more epic, ambitious and cinema-quality than a TV series like Scream; something akin to a marquee series on Netflix or HBO. If A24 balked at the relatively reasonable budget, based on cost alone, it's simply because they didn't believe in the F13 franchise reaching that level.

I think this plan for the seasons is a good idea. But I'm with you on how baffling the $85 million dollar budget is. Isn't the Chucky series rather low budget? They still do a lot in that show with the effects and puppets. Aside from the gory kills, I can't imagine a Friday the 13th series being very effects heavy.

Honestly the budget was insane for a Friday the 13th series!!! And hearing it really had a Friday the 13th fan especially me a dream come true for a Jason new take for a franchise! Really hope they can somehow keep those ideas when they make new seasons! And although they are back to the drawing board, I would love to see the first episode begin of Jason drowning, and Pamela Voorhees going after campers for revenge kinda a remake modern age version of the first movie until the next season of Adult Jason like in part 2! Hearing the detailed I really loved it, but I hope they will finally make a good story and I’m still excited because we need to finally have Jason in our lives since it’s been 15 years since we last saw him!

Crystal Lake could have done what Bates Motel series be a prequel but also remake of Psycho for the final season just retooled it not spoiling what happens for those who have never seen it. Crystal Lake could have expanded Pamela and Jason backstory explore how obsessive she was with her son and overprotective similar to Norman Bates and his mother in Bates Motel series. Introduce Elias Voorhees and Jason's half sister Diana Kimble going by what was established in main continuity. First Friday the 13th established lot of deaths happen Pamela over the years kept killing people or causing chaos in hopes to have camp closed thus earning the name camp blood and locals calling it a death curse lead up to events. Lead up Pamela killing Barry and Claudette the counselors responsible for letting Jason drown in 1958. Then series can show camp owners try to reopen Camp Crystal Lake in 1962 Pamela returns, poisons the water, and sets fires, causing the camp to close again. But here's where things get more complicate rights issue since Jason Goes To Hell established that Pamela used the Necronomicon to bring back Jason making him a deadite technically since it's still Jason since he kept his soul. Series could also clear up mess of first two Friday the 13th films how is Jason an adult in second film if he drowned or go the other route his mother thought he drowned and she just couldn't cope that her didn't actually drown she just had mental breakdown while Jason just fled into the woods became a hermit, living in the woods and feeding off plants, bugs and animals. Final season remake first Friday the 13th bring back Alice, Steve, and other characters from first film just add more backstory to them and actually make first Friday the 13th not be boring. Also Before anyone says Jason Goes To Hell isn't canon due to all hate film gets by half fan base sorry to say this film is canon and it does lead up to Freddy vs. Jason.

Had I done this script for the series, my version would reinterpret the origins of Jason as revealing that in the late 1800's White people had desecrated a ancient sacred Native American burial ground and now the angry souls had chosen Jason's dead body in the 1950's/'60's to be their vessel for revenge. Season 8 would have meant we could have gotten more time in New York since we barley got that in "Jason Takes Manhattan". They could have used their scrapped ideas they had in mind for that film like the characters on the Brooklyn Bride, a boxing match in Madison Square Garden, Jason going through department stores, going through Time Square, into a Broadway play, and him crawling onto the top of the Statue of Liberty and dive off. I really would have liked seeing a climax at Lady Liberty. And with them originally changing up the movie stories for the TV show, they could have had "A New Beginning" be centered with Tommy Jarvis when he's still a kid instead of grown up like originally intended because they only did that since Corey Feldman couldn't film it due to being in "The Goonies". It's interesting though because I had a TV show like this in mind, except it would be for "A Nightmare on Elm Street" in which each season is based on a movie. Well, more like three seasons, but they would combine elements from each film. First season would be based on the first film obviously. But I think that season should start off with letting us know that Nancy is indeed the main character instead of giving us a false one like what they did with Tina in the original or Kris in the remake. Then season 2 would be based on "Dram Warriors", except Nancy can be a patient. It can also include elements of "Dream Master". And then season 3 can include elements of "Dream Child" and "Freddy's Dead". It can even include Freddy's ultimate defeat from the comic "Freddy vs Jason vs Ash: The Nightmare Warriors" in which the Dream Demons find Freddy unworthy of his power, take it away from him, the spirits of his victims appear, and Freddy is sucked into a vortex into Hell.

I was one of the people who was worried that this would be a full on Pamela Voorhees prequel show, but to know that it was going to be a reimagining of the first four movies, sign me up. Hopefully they will still use that concept, think of it as a longer recap of the previous movies as they used to do back in the older movies. Getting maybe ten seasons would have been great, that would have hopefully lead in to a totally new and original Friday the 13th movie coming off the ten seasons for example. This idea kind of reminds me also of the Bates Motel show which started off as a prequel but ended up to be a full on reimagining of the Norman Bates Psycho movies.

Yeah I'm excited, although I hope they remix it a bit. I say keep all of the iconic characters of 2 and 3: Mark, Vicky, Ginny, Paul, Shelly, Vera, and Chris then put them all in summer camp, or have the stories taking place at the same time so it isn't dumb that the kids in part 3 go to Crystal Lake where there are murders. Part 4 can be separate as they went to the camp assuming that Jason is dead.

This would have been cool, but I would have preferred a straight up prequel set in the 50s/60s that would have followed Pamela's various attempts to get the camp closed down following Jason's drowning and her slow descent into insanity, maybe interspersed with flashbacks showing her time with Jason. Like the great "Pamela's Tale" comic book that was released a few years ago. Then it could have led straight into the first movie.

Not a shock they would've done it similar to Hannibal. Fuller did the same thing with American Gods. The book is full of chapters of unrelated subplots that explore the universe, but in the show those characters escape those tiny stories and meet each other in the wider narrative. I'm sure that's what he would have done with Friday 13th

I think they should go with the idea of retelling the first four movies in the modern day. As for the budget, rather than cutting it in half for the entire season they should look into which episodes are gonna be more expensive and which ones are gonna be less expensive. Because then it would be easier to maybe find some sort of middle ground for the budget. And if they even wanna be more cost effective I would just get one or two directors for the entire show. I'm not an analytics or a TV show accountant so what I'm saying is probably bull however there are ways to make a horror TV show look like it cost a $100 million; but it didn't.

I think reinterpreting the movies in a series format is a great way to streamline the chronological order of the timeline events. Some of the movies make it seem like 4 conveniently happened at the same time, so this series will streamline the events and possibly not make their law enforcement look stupid and possibly set up FREDDY VJASON.... I love the idea too, BUT the modern day thing definitely throws me off. Im really hoping any cinematic experience we get from Friday the 13th happens, whether its a show or movie, it will be best to stick to the time period imo. It's a bummer we're not getting this as planned but the budget seems weird. Yes Theron is a big actress but there's no way she's sucking up the budget. I think season 1 would have been a good start for Pamela Voorhees. First episode of her son drowning and the police tried to find his body and can't find him. It ends where she decides to get her revenge. Next few episodes, we see her killing the camp counselors from the opening of the first film, we can finally see her trying to stop the camp from opening, like she poisoned the water and setting forest on fire. We get the last episodes of a new version of the first film.

Also more backstory of the owner of camp crystal lake since they said his parents went broke and their family fell apart ever since Jason drown. We can also add the aftermath of Pamela's killing spree at Camp Crystal lake. We might have some people who once work with Pamela at Camp Crystal Lakes years ago before the first film and the children that once went to the camp now grown up and learn what happened. Can u dig it, yes u can! I'm not high on Charlize Theron, Claire Danes was an interesting consideration.. Id like a surprise at the mother role, in the sense someone you wouldn't expect.. Other names id throw out there, Teresa Palmer, Bethany Joy Lenz, Julia Stiles, Heather Graham, Diane Kruger, Rachel McAdams, Rosamund Pike, Alice Eve, Hilary Duff, Jennifer Lawerence, Jennifer Garner if your lookn for a blonde actress in or near her 40's.. some of the names are just fantasy casting but intriguing..

I really hope they still go with this idea, though they can skip Jason Goes To Hell that's the only bad movie, but this sounds amazing, Jason Takes Manhattan is my 4th favorite Friday The 13th movie but imagine if we got a Season 8 and we got 7 hours and 45 minutes of Jason on a Cruise Ship and 15 minutes of New York that would be incredible

I think season 1 should be entirely dedicated to Pamela and show what lead her to killing. In the og movie she only had about 10 minutes of screentime so giving her an actual story making the audience more sympathetic and even better understand Jason in newer seasons. I think the show is headed in right direction

we’ve had a game that failed because of copyright licensing so thats gone then, a show about him who also gets cancelled, and then another remake of the friday the 13th the game called resurrected which ALSO got cancelled for a cease and desist so jason has been cancelled on so much from the people who made him

what i like about this premise is that it provides an opportunity to steamline and/or expand on underdeveloped characters and plot threads from the movies. like say if in an early season we see Jason attack someone who turns out to be a young Creighton Duke, and years later he returns to kill Jason.

A lot of Friday the 13th/Jason fans hate the first movie and Pamela Voorhees, they find the original boring and terrible and they just hate the old lady Pamela, but I'm one of those fans that actually respects the first movie and Pamela Voorhees because it set everything up going forward even though that wasn't the intention because originally Friday the 13th was gonna be an Anthology series like the TV show from the 90s was over a decade later but fans didn't want it, they wanted Jason and they got him, hopefully the next Friday the 13th movie or new tv show or whatever actually happens, definitely would be invested.

If The Walking Dead was making episodes for 3-4 million, it is confusing how this show would be 80mil for a season. Unless it was going to be a full 22 episode season, which is unlikely these days.
