The best animation/description of how the single-stage AR trigger works. It helps identify the problem of disconnector on my AR trigger. Thank you for sharing this.

thank you for sharing this! It really helped me understand the process. What is truly amazing to me, is how EXTREMELY fast, all the "things" happen. from the time we press the trigger, to the moment the bullet is speeding through the barrel, a LOT has transpired. The 1st action, and each subsequent reaction. so QUICK!!!

If your disconnect spring is damaged or wrong spring it will cause 2 to 3 round burst then stop. Be sure you correctly identify your magazine release spring and disconnect spring. They will interchange but are not the same spring . And get spare spring kit to keep in your shooting bag/case.

The click you hear when shooting is the disconnect releasing and sear re engaging as the trigger is released. It makes an obvious audible click.

My new trigger has a problem that when the bolt is locked back, pressing the hammer down, it raises the trigger bar too high to fully engage the safety. If the safety was already fully engaged and the bolt forces the hammer down, it creates undue stress on both the hammer pin and the trigger pin. Now I see where I can Dremmel some meat off the base of the hammer without affecting the safety or function of the trigger. Thanks!

@SadethCheng6 жыл бұрын
When you put the selector on AUTO, it pushes the disconnector down so that it never engages with the hammer, allowing the hammer to spring forward as long as the trigger is pressed. Also, at the back trigger group is an auto sear that prevents the hammer from springing forward until the bolt carrier group is completely cycled (completely closed) during which the hammer will be released again and fire another round: kzbin.info/www/bejne/managXiCbdycpKs

When you release the trigger and the Disconnector releases the hammer, what is that loud, audible reset click? Is that the hammer slamming against the trigger sear "head"?

CAN ANYONEPLEASEHELP!?!?! Ok so with a ar-15 p80 in 556 and when the trigger goes forward it doesn't release from the first catch(hook) so the hammer is unabletobe released by pullingthetrigger... so its not together yet but the trigger assembly is in and when the hammer is pushed down it hooks but you either have to push the trigger forward a very small amount and it releases and resets allowing the hammer to drop when the trigger is pulled... it also works if the selector switch is moved from fire to right around half way to safe. At that point it releases resetting then you put the selector back on fire and it is able to fire...it only has to go half way not all the way to safe. this happens every time... so should be working correct? Or does the upper have to be on for it to work properly? Some people said they had this problem because of a small burr on the hook so it wouldn't reset until they sanded it down smooth. don't think that is the problem because it's already been sanded it down... does ANYONE HAVE ANY IDEAS ON HOW TO FIX THIS AT ALL? PLEASE LET ME KNOW... Thought about getting a drop in style trigger but they're a little expensive right now. Not understanding why what is already here won't work... EVERYTHING was picked up at the same time from the same person and there was no shortage of people getting the same thing and MANY were coming back after a prior purchase not just first time buyers! Asking around everyone had nothing but good things to say about their prior purchases/builds. Please if anyone can help it would be HIGHLY APPRECIATED!!!

When one resets the trigger the audible 'click' sound is hammer engaged by the sear, is that correct? Disconnector makes no contribution to that sound other than getting out of the way for sear to engage? Thanks in advance.

So does the hammer only ever make contact with the disconnector in that one place?
@armedwithinformation6 жыл бұрын
As far as the disconnector, that's all that should make contact. It's job is to hold the hammer back until the trigger is released, allowing the sear to engage.
@Christoph18882 жыл бұрын
Would removing the disconnector effectively turn it into a full auto?
@armedwithinformation2 жыл бұрын
Probably not. The hammer would "ride" the bolt carrier forward, and wouldn't likely have enough force to set off the primer.

What would happen if you was to remove the disconnector
@armedwithinformation10 жыл бұрын
One might think this would cause it to go full-auto, but it's just not the case. The disconnector allows that fraction of a second needed for the bolt carrier to travel forward and lock a new round in the breach, before you fire the next one. If the disconnector were gone, the hammer would ride the bolt carrier forward. This would not allow enough force on the firing pin to fire a round. If it did go auto, the ATF would have demanded a fix long before now. Instead, you would have continuous problems and would effectively have a single shot rifle, requiring you to reset the trigger after each round fired. I hope this helps; thanks for watching.

But what program you used to make this animations and what about the 3--round burst?
@armedwithinformation6 жыл бұрын
I use Blender. It's free, but very capable. There is a steep learning curve on it, but once you get the keyboard shortcuts down, it's not bad.
@libertardsbeware41806 жыл бұрын
Three round burst is a gear on hammer and lever on trigger pin. When safety lever presses on lever and trigger is squeezed - lever takes gear and pulls it. On second round it again pulls gear. After third round gear cannot be pulled because of it’s shape so lever rises and presses on disconnector.

look for trigger pins to be loose (enlarged or egg shaped holes) also sear spring in wrong or missing. Or any other parts chipped or worn. If it continues you may be in trouble for having an unregistered machine gun. Do not continue use of this gun rather replace trigger group or if you cannot do this take to gunsmith.

I apologize for not getting back with you earlier. I had an external hard drive that was stolen and I can only assume that the original files were one there. I can re-make it, but I only dabble in computer modeling so it would take me some time to get it completed. If you don't need precise measurements, it could be done quite a bit faster. It would look right, but the dimensions would not be CNC ready. Again, I apologize for taking so long to get back with you.
