Best practices to scan houses?, any options to capture standard resolution and switch to closeups to increase definition/quality of some specfic areas of the exterior of a house? Thanks for taking the time to teach us!

Actually, the best way to scan a house with 3DGS is to record video using your phone's camera app with ultra-wide angle lens, this way it will capture more details in each frame.

can you use 3DGS tech and combine it with the 3d mesh scanning to remove the issues of blurry textures and bad 3d models? is there a way this can be used to increase the quality of the 3d meshes that get produced? maybe better for 3d printing?

Use 3DGS to increase mesh quality could be hard. 3DGS has a completely different nature from 3D mesh. And it's not meant to replace or improve 3D mesh quality unfortunately, but rather explore a new way of rending 3D models without 3D meshes :(

Yes, we've tried to do something similar, and it worked quite well. Our photo scan is good for that, just make sure when you take photos, there are no glares from the glass

Haha, it absolutely seems to be the future of 3D. At this moment, there are plug-ins for Unreal Engine and Blender, but they are not perfect. ​@@sergeantrecker9737 I know it's not common to see a 3D scanner app charge money for 3DGS whereas there are other free options, right? :P We see our 3DGS feature as a benefit to KIRI Engine Pro users to add extra values to our subscription model. It's true that if you only seek for the 3DGS, there are other free options, but if in case you need our infamous PBR, Quad Retopo, Featureless Obejct Scan using Neural Surface Reconstruction, and many other useful features, KIRI Engine Pro with an extra 3DGS feature might be you one-stop shop for a very low cost :)

Hi there! Although we try to make Android version equally good, I have to admit iPhone does have better cameras in terms of 3D scanning. So, if you have a choice, I'd recommend using an iPhone :)

hey Saturn! It's actually not. I know what you think, PLY is for point cloud, it's useless unless it has a mesh format such as OBJ, right? But this is the cool thing about 3DGS, you can't think it as a traditional explicit representation, there's so much more information you can get from the 3DGS PLY, there are already addons that can render 3DGS PLY on blender or Unreal Engine.

Hi! I'm so sorry to hear this. I really think technology is the key to making the world a little cooler for all mankind. If you think about the 3D scanning 5 years ago, it's like 3000 dollars to buy a piece of equipment. But now, with our BF sales, it's 2.29 a month. While we are working hard toward making 3D scanning affordable to everyone, unfortunately, we do need to have a business model so our company can survive and continue to improve the technology.
