Hi! my study area has an irregular geometry (it is polygonal area). In this case, how should I enter X and Y values? Should I upload the shapefile file to Geomodeller?

hello, if you mean an irregular topography you need either to pick a lower value that fits inside the study area with a regular shape or use the full extent but geomodeller will extrapolate the missing values . one way to fix this is by using publicly available DEM to cover the missing part of the topography

Hello thank for taking the time to watch our tutorials , you can either get it from your client as a dxf file and interpolate it in softwares like qgis , or if you don't have a topography you can download a free DEM online and use it directly. i hope this helps

I tried importing a DEM file with the suffix TIF, but the GeoModeller software prompted me that “Failed to load grid file:null” and “Cannot convert this WGS84/GEODETIC DTM to Projection:local”.Could you give me some more guidance？ Looking forward to your reply.

@@赵先森-p4f the problem is that geomodeller some times cannot use all kind of georeferenced DEMs , the solution to this try to import that dem inside GIS softwares like QGIS , search for translate and convert that dem to .asc format then import it again it should work . i hope that helps

@@MiningGeologist Thanks for your reply. I have installed QGIS and am trying to use it. When I revisited your course, I noticed that when you were inputting the project extent, the units in GEO were m, but in QGIS they were degrees. Does it matter if we use the Numbers in QGIS directly?

@@赵先森-p4f this means that your project is in lat/long coordinates , search for warp script in Qgis and transform the coordinates to UTM for example the extents are going to be in meter and it's better.

Hey Tiago , with just surface mapping i think the best softwares that would do this is either Geomodeller or Leapfrog .
